I've played a lot of preamps over the years, and very few actually make me go "holy s*** that sounds good!" This was one of those. The first couple prototypes were very good, but when I got that final version built up, I knew I had a serious winner.

Almost forgot to grab this picture. Grand Slampegg isn't tiny, but it's also not enormous.
My new morning routine :
- wake up
- grab my phone
- buy the new Sushi Preamp released during the night
- then drink a coffee.

It looks like a killer preamp.
I think the listing is missing the word "prevent" (or something akin) between "...inline buffer to" and "interference".
And for overseas customers: is the wall wart US only or does it include attachments for other types of wall sockets?

The wall wart can handle 100-240VAC 50-60Hz so it can handle power anywhere in the world, but unfortunately it does not have the swappable plugs to fit other wall sockets, just the US-style "blade" plug.
Well I've ordered mine! Didn't really need to hear the demo to know that I'd be ordering one, but that just made the decision even easier.
And great seeing it side by side with the regular slampegg, it's even more compact than I'd realised.
Here's hoping that I get lucky with the UK customs and terrible postal service.
Once it arrives and I've had a chance to try it out I'll work out recording a couple of comparisons with the Oracle as a couple of people have mentioned it.
I'm thinking if I split the signal into both and feed each into a channel of my interface then I can record them with exactly the same playing, so no bias etc.

Grabbed a GS this morning. Very excited, been waiting for this one since the Chef mentioned this early this year.

I think it's an interesting comparison because I didn't try to make it the exact same thing. You definitely get the feeling that they're related, I would describe them as the same "flavor", but they were kind of designed to be different. Slampegg Bee Pre was designed to get some nice warm breakup, whereas Grand Slampegg was designed to stay clean. I had a version of Grand Slampegg where I left the preamp exactly the same and I liked it, but I felt like its usefulness as a D.I. was diminished and that it would be better served as a clean preamp. It can of course be fed with a boost or overdrive to push the 6SL7 into breakup and it sound fabulous, but not every bassist wants dirt so I aimed for clean and tried to give it more warmth and more punch, then you can add dirt as you see fit.
I woke up this morning to see that all 10 of the in-stock units have already sold, so I'm considering that my birthday gift from all of you. I have 10 more units that are mostly finished that I will box up tonight, so there won't be much of a wait on backorders. My wife was surprised at my plan to build on my birthday, but it's a day to do whatever I like, and building pedals is something I like doing.

I am just wondering on future SBVT II, I know let him get this done. What I have found I like is the SVT EQ with the deep/bright switches and variable mids. The only smallish pedals I’ve found that have that are Ampeg pre pedal (no variable mids) and Broughton SV-Pre. But, both introduce noise I don’t like. Others like SGT too big. Not worried about the dirt, just the eq options/voicing. If that was in a tube preamp pedal, I’m in. Can’t remember if the possible SBVT II will be like that.
