The Sushi Box FX Secret Society

Can we preorder a v3 finally?
No, but I promise I will make plenty so there won't be a long wait once they're released.

that's super cool. Will the variable HPF be making it's way to other designs eventually?
It's certainly a possibility. I originally designed that bit for Furthermore, but in talking to Philip Mann (With Bass In Mind) about a new version of Finally, he expressed that he thought a variable frequency HPF would be more useful even than an EQ for the circuit, so I worked out a way to get it in there and he liked the results.

i agree with him then… the GS sounds very good, but a variable hp would be more useful there than even eq. (most of the time).

perhaps the variable eq could be printed in a shape which could slip into the switch location of the GS!

nathan,

watt big time agrees w/what you said was from bassslinger philip: "...a variable frequency HPF would be more useful even than an EQ" especially for the job I think it's there for.

on bass, watt

Black Eye II sales figures tell me that you're wrong, I'm getting close to discontinuing it.

You're surprisingly close.

Nope. I've accepted that I lack the technical knowledge and the patience to add all the features people expect from delays these days, so Solaris has just been for personal enjoyment.

I absolutely love it. "Per my last email" is a phrase I use commonly enough that I have to find something to do with that. Limited April Fools pedal maybe?

And here I was thinking nobody would guess it. Well done.
And here I just bought a V2!

Just like the Finally v2 didn't make Finally v1 obsolete, Finally v3 will not make Finally v2 obsolete. Though Finally v3 will also have a little price bump as it's more expensive to build.

So there is a finally v3 coming? What happened to the furthermore?

I have 3 finallys In one case I’m using it early in the chain for not so clean gain staging ahead if other stuff.
There is a Finally v3 coming. I'm hoping for January, but I just found out over the weekend my enclosure supplier is slammed right now and is taking much longer than usual, that's the only reason Single Slice hasn't dropped yet.

Furthermore will still happen, but the first full prototype (pictures a couple pages ago I think) does not work, so I have to figure out what I did wrong in pulling all the pieces together and fix it. I don't expect this to be a quick process.

All of the older @Sushi Box FX pedals are still marvelous, my Finally v1 [from the original batch] continues to be my favorite DI and gets regular use. Also true of my Particle Accelerator and Slampegg Bee mini tube versions.

Remember that time I mentioned I had pictures of the Furthermore prototype then got distracted and didn't post them? Please accept my apology.

Disclaimer: this is a prototype, not a production unit. Not only is it not for sale, it basically doesn't even work. I'm going to need some more time on this one, it looks like 2024 wasn't the year for it after all 🫤

Yeah I’m basically running a finally and an EQ after it most of the time. The underground accelerator is good but I need more mids.
Looking forward to your successful debugging :-)

Quick heads up, I'll try to remember to add this to the website tomorrow. I just finished the last batch of Slampegg Bee Pre builds and they're up on the site; once those sell out Slampegg Bee Pre will be gone. I know it's not exactly the same as Grand Slampegg, but I've been trying to slim down my lineup and there's enough tonal overlap that I think it's justified.

Glad I got one when I did, then. It bumped the UA from my board (just a little warmer & rounder to my ears) going into a Finally. There’s so much phatty phat goodness in that little enclosure. I’d buy it again in a heartbeat.

Will you add the Slampegg PCB to the C2C site?

Ordered! Never tried this one so might as well do it while I can

Well it took me a while but I have finally bonded with venusX. The EQ is very GK like as expected but maybe more subtle. There really isn't anything subtle about the GK RB series EQ so maybe that is really OK. It kinda through me when I first started messing with it though. What sealed the deal ? Boost. I fairly recently got into an Ibanez UB804. Pretty low output and the Boost let's me level it out with my other basses. It is an eminently practical design!

I just purchased a Voodoo Labs Pedal Power X4 to power my chain for bass pedals. I’m running Korg Pitchblack X mini into Dr Wattson X then Way Huge pork and pickle. Is the voodoo labs power enough for the Dr Wattson? Thanks 🤘🏻
The Pedal Power X4 is only capable of 500mA per output, that's a bit low for dual tube pedals like Dr. Wattson. I typically recommend at least 600mA.
