As you just have learnt, if the pedal needs some warmth, put a Greenhouse around!

Ouch, TalkBass does take more of my time than I thought — I would have bet I had put that comment above just one or two minutes ago, and now it is already displayed (at least for me) as 30 minutes ago.

Apparently, I should focus on practicing and particularly time-keeping...

Thanks That's the one. The idea of a greenhouse is that you surround something in glass to keep it warm, the Greenhouse pedal does the same thing. It's a tube FX loop to warm up whatever needs it. Have one pedal that doesn't play well with others or sound the way you want? Stick it in the Greenhouse. Have a digital modeler that has all the options but could use some warmth? Throw it in the Greenhouse. Have a set of pedals you really like but feel like they could use a little "something"? Throw the whole chain in the Greenhouse.

Greenhouse is finished and verified, and I have parts on hand to build 30 or so, just need to find the time to build them up so I can get it released. Probably not until Neptunium is done and Finally v3 has slowed down a bit.

Does the GH's input have a parallel route to its output?

It actually made its way down to Florida already as well but if it makes you feel any better it's been freezing down here too...by which I mean it dipped into the 50s.

Original date was Friday so arrived way faster than expected. Ive been tearing stuff apart so great timing. Thanks Mr. Sush!

They updated my delivery date from Friday to today as well... but we got some snow and I don't know how much that slowed down the Postman. Anytime before practice Thursday is perfect b/c I'm also trying to have my guitarist try out my Finally (to maybe sell him on an Underground Accelerator or another pedal). EDIT: lol at the full screen emoji, but it's entirely appropriate to convey my feelings...

Does the GH's input have a parallel route to its output?

Nope, the only way to do that without creating phase issues would be to add an extra tube, and that would mean a bigger enclosure, which I didn't want for this.

Is the Greenhouse knob a volume control on the loop or a dry/wet blend?

It's a volume control, as stated above there is no good way to add a blend. There is one triode before the loop and one triode after the loop, so it really is "surrounded" by tube.

Not the wildest gut shot you'll see, but I'm pretty proud of this layout:

If you want more of a distortion pedal, then consider the Black Eye II. It's one of the best tube-based distortion pedals out there and will likely disappear from the Sushi Box lineup in the near future because no one buys them... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Then there's also the Tarantula Fuzz if you want something really gnarly.

Correct, both the Finally and Neptunium are primarily DI boxes...
Finally has no EQ and can add grit with a higher-gain tube, but has no footswitch to toggle that grit on/off.
Neptunium has an EQ and is designed to always run clean (also no footswitch - no use for one).

Your second idea of a UA into a Neptunium is likely more what you're looking for.

Last question I swear, what size/type of enclosure is that?

Hammond 1590BB, same size as JC Emerald and Black Eye II.

Super fun fact, it was recently (like an hour ago) brought to my attention that there is a typo on the Greenhouse artwork. The output jack is actually the "OUPUT" jack. Whoops.

So I guess the first batch of these will be "misprints" and I'll knock a couple bucks off the pricetag. Makes a lot more sense than throwing away 30 enclosures, especially with the lead time the enclosure supplier has right now.

I'd say that would depend on what else you have in your chain, and how you'd like your pedals to be staged/effect each other...
A few possibilities that come to mind include:
The Underground Accelerator can be used as an overdrive or light-to-medium distortion all on its own if you set the Gain high and the Master at "unity".
Alternatively, a simple boost pedal (or an elaborate boost pedal, like the MORE) into an Underground Accelerator could make the UA distort.
You could also theoretically set the Gain on the Black Eye II low-ish, but set its Level high-ish which would also cause the UA to distort...
Or just use the Black Eye II as a stand-alone distortion pedal with Gain medium-to-high and Level at "unity" right into the Neptunium.

What other kinds of pedals are you planning to have in the chain out of curiosity?

P.S.: When I personally set a pedals output for "unity", I actually set it just a touch stronger (3-4dB) than exact unity since most pedals in a chain operate best when being fed a signal that's a hair stronger than the one before it.

As I only just started this analog journey, all I have is a Pedal76 compressor ...

Spent a while on the recent distortion fuzz shootout video.
I'll probably end up doing something like this

Pedal 76 > black eye > UA > neptunium

But my god the tarantula sounds so good so maybe I might just get both.

When I finally have some time to tinker I might figure out a way to throw my hx stomp in there somehow

I mean I'm in the "more tubes is always better" camp, but if you already have something at the end for tube warmth then the only thing this gets you is a nice buffer on the front end, which you may already have anyway. Greenhouse is not one of the "everyone should have this" pedals in my opinion, but there are definitely cases where it's the right tool to solve a specific problem.

My Neptunium arrived today too. USPS running smooth apparently. I’ll have a lot of time for “practice” tomorrow night, so I’ll definitely run it around the block.
