The Sushi Box FX Secret Society

Man I know the 1/4" buffered output is the only difference between the new Neptunium and the older one; I'm hoping Nathan can come up with a mod to add this to the old circuit because the speed at which these new ones are going is absolutely insane! Well worth it as they sound incredible, have been using mine since the first drop and it has never left my board.

Hey @Sushi Box FX I've sent a couple emails to your customer service over the past year, no reply.
How can I get your attention to ask a specific question about one of your products?
I'm usually pretty good about answering emails, I'm not sure why I would have missed them, sorry about that. If it's a general question you can post it here and get opinions from others as well as myself, if it's more specific you can shoot me a PM on here or email [email protected]

Thanks, no problem, @Sushi Box FX
Maybe others are curious, so I'll ask here:

I'm looking for a tube preamp capable of driving a powered cabinet that requires +10db input - do you sell one?

I can't help with the question but I would really like to know what the powered cabinet is, can you provide a model and brand so we can all se what you are asking about ?
There might even be people here who are already using the same cabinet with their Sushi pedals, they just need to know what your cab is.
Thanks
Mick

Thanks.
I'm looking to power a GK MBP.
I did see that email yesterday morning and hadn't gotten around to digging into the specs on the GK cabinet, sorry about that.

Most of my preamps are capable of pretty hot outputs, Underground Accelerator for example can do +38dB or so, but that's a high-impedance output from a 1/4". I haven't measured XLR outputs recently enough to remember exact numbers, but I'm pretty sure any of my D.I.-equipped preamps like Venus Z, Finally v3, or Grand Slampegg should be hot enough to do the trick.

I believe the MBP powered cabs need a balanced 10dBu signal which is 7.79dBV or 2.449V to drive them fully, in case anyone is wondering.

Edit: see post 63.

Id love some tubiness.
I'll wait and see if anyone here uses one of those with MBPs.

Yes, seen that, thanks.
Talked to RAG himself about it.
He said what he said above: look for something that puts out 10db, hence my question here.
I don't know what "you won't have a limiter means" and forgot to get details.

The limiter in all likelihood is protecting the input of the extension speaker from clipping and potentially causing damage to either the speaker or the power amp in said speaker. I'm not super familiar with the setup you're using but the limiter seems to be stock on the amps these cabinets were designed to be paired with.

So you suppose the output on the GK Plex preamp and the MB series amps (both designed to drive MBP cabs) have a limiter built in?

@Sushi Box FX
Is the Greenhouse the pedal we where trying to guess. Or has that been figured out?
You're thinking of Per My Last Email. Someone actually guessed it 95% correct a few pages ago, but I'm not telling who.

It had arrived! Sounds amazing!
