I'm hoping to have the next 50 Neptuniums done in 1-2 weeks, and I think 237 total for this last run is reasonable, so I have parts on order for the remaining 137 as well. If anyone emails me afterward asking me to do even more units, they will be ignored. Too much other stuff to do.

As I only just started this analog journey, all I have is a Pedal76 compressor ...

Spent a while on the recent distortion fuzz shootout video.
I'll probably end up doing something like this

Pedal 76 > black eye > UA > neptunium

But my god the tarantula sounds so good so maybe I might just get both.

When I finally have some time to tinker I might figure out a way to throw my hx stomp in there somehow

Just to complicate it a little further, I think the Dreamcatcher might get you where you want to go as well. One channel is basically the UA, while the other can get all kinds of dirty. It's the Sushi Box pedal that is top of my wish list.

I must admit the dreamcatcher didn't really stick out to me on the shootout video but on paper it's definitely more in line with my initial plan for the two note revolt.

You've definitely complicated things further ..

Sorry about that. It just sounds like such a cool pedal! I have an older Smoke Signal that is fantastic for overdrive, and I've heard that the Dreamcatcher is even better! That being said, the UA is a great, flexible pedal to have in the arsenal.

To further complicate things, my hand wired dr Watson is my favorite sounding pedal for med high gain sounds. The detective could be an option as long as you have another pedal to boost low mids..

Soaking wet. Unless you flick a switch, then its dry.

EDIT: I was wrong about the switch. I was thinking of the Finally. Neptunium is wet on the 1/4" out.

Basically yup. Also the FX loop jacks are switched jacks, so if there's nothing in the loop the pedal is just a tube clean boost.

It is also on the 1/4" output.

Unlike Finally v3, Neptunium doesn't have room for a 1/4" source select switch, so it is tube output on the 1/4" all the time, no way to bypass it. Just like the original

7am here, I thought I’d check and I managed to snatch Np. Shame I couldn’t combine it with Finally, that has just been shipped, which means twice the shipping and customs fees. But that’s life. I can pretend these are VIPs that are not supposed to fly on the same plane . How does the Np’s EQ stack compare to Noble? Does it have the same frequency points and shelves?

Nope, the only way to do that without creating phase issues would be to add an extra tube, and that would mean a bigger enclosure, which I didn't want for this.


It's a volume control, as stated above there is no good way to add a blend. There is one triode before the loop and one triode after the loop, so it really is "surrounded" by tube.

Not the wildest gut shot you'll see, but I'm pretty proud of this layout:

I was typing my question too late… I was wondering how the GH pedal would react to having a boost in the loop. Will the GH break up/saturate? There’s a couple of use cases that this would be useful with.

Example an octave pedal in the loop with a hot signal pushing to breakup (or beyond) may be excellent.

Boost inside the tube pedal loop? It’s like a firecracker. Set it off just outside your hand and you get superficial burns. Wrap your hand around it in a tight fist and set it off, you’ll be missing a hand.

Neptunium's EQ is identical to the Noble, same frequency points and shelves.

There were only 5 this time, though they did go faster than I expected.

Putting a boost in the loop can absolutely push the tube in Greenhouse to breakup. I have a 12AU7 in it right now, but I'm considering using a 12AT7 for more output, which would also make it better suited to breaking up in a case like that. In that case the boost's level would act as a gain control and the Greenhouse level control would turn into a master volume.
