Yup, it's a hot take from someone with multiple "different kinds of black" shoes. But to my wife all of my basses are "brown".

Well, nevertheless I do assume she is aware of all those different pedal models and their respective uniqueness... and does not think those are all mostly "light grey boxes"...
(Probably there's a more fitting color name than "light grey", my color vocabulary is noticeable smaller than my wife's.)

I am working out my board for a jazz 4tet and of course there will be some @Sushi Box FX tube goodness to add some magic. The Zoom MS60B will be bumped soon as I am working on replacing the patches I use with a MS60B+. I had tried using my trusty old B2 pedals but they have an annoying high pitched whine when using any modulation that even our drummer could hear. Luckily the guys dig it when I pull up different tones.

I've always thought it came down to the Transformer. The Noble has the Jensen which I think makes that difference. IMO anyway. My Nobelium has a Jensen and it's what made me sell the Noble. I tried to talk Nathan into hotroding my Neptunium with a Jensen too

As much as I do like the classic Jensen JT-DB used in so many classic DI boxes I have to say that I am really liking @Sushi Box FX Unagi transformer currently in use, I have one in my Pedalnetics DIm Stick and it sounds very full spectrum and uncolored. FWIW my Finally v1 has a Jensen as do most of my other DI boxes, if I needed yet another DI [I don't, really I don't ] I would have no issue with an Unagi on board.

What about something like this Dingwall ABZ in black wood grain ?

Maybe just a Hofner violin bass in black and say its for the girls when they get a bit older ?
( It works the first couple of times when you say its for the kids)
EDIT: Just never say its for her to try cause you might find she trades it in for a pair of shoes.

I would love a Dingwall, and I've always loved that finish.

The "it's for the kids" thing pretty much got used up when I picked up the Ibanez Mikro, which was used for one (1) bass lesson before the kid in question lost interest. I swapped the pickups (EMG Geezer Butlers) and it's now the workshop bass I use for testing things. I still hold out hope one of the girls decides to pick it up eventually, but it's not looking good so far.

I've tried convincing my wife she should try bass, but she said if she were to pick up any instrument it would be violin. Not too far off though, I'm still working on her.

I think yes and no is a fair answer there. She knows the name of every single pedal I make and she knows how to assemble all of them, but she has absolutely no clue what the differences are between them or why there need to be so damn many.

What's the battery life on the Tubecaster? You know how hard it is to find a PJ bass with a Jazz neck and an Undergound Accelerator built into it? They're pretty rare, turns out.

I don't think I ever actually did a test where I ran the battery dry, but based on my math it should be 7-8 hours on a full charge. The button on the pickguard is a battery voltage test, the intention being that I can check it before a gig, and if I'm concerned it's not charged enough I swap out for a fresh battery. I bought 3 battery packs because sometimes I like to pretend I'm a gigging bassist.

I tried to explain how it's like her having different handbags to use with different outfits and different occasions, but this was hindered by the fact that this bass is still roughly the same shape* and color as the other bass, and the explanation of pickups is a little beyond the grasp of a non-player.

So she thinks all your basses are the same and if she was to play anything it would be a violin ?
Personally I would bring home a Hofner Beetle Bass and give to her and say here's a violin I got you, and then just stand there looking innocent.
When she says that is not a violin you just say "but darling, all violins look the same to me"

This is not a thumbs up or thumbs down to the review. I wanted to say when I watched the first video, I thought the bass sounded like it had some fuzz or some kind of overdrive on it. People responded it may be my iPhone speakers.

It was! I have listened to the video on some good speakers and it was totally different. So I retract any previous comments. Good review!

I listened to the review. I liked it. And agree with it. I have both a noble and a neptunium and find your observations line up with mine. I too like them both. I too prefer the noble. But it’s a small margin at best. Gonna see how I like the neptunium with a compressor in the chain.

That's the SR900FM. It came out a little more orange in the picture, but it's kind of an amber-brown fade finish. That one is my favorite

Did a quick fiddling with the Neptunium. I only needed to tweak the bass knobs. Really loving this pedal! Thanks Nathan @Sushi Box FX !

My fave setting is bass at 12 o'clock and the HPF on. Really nice and defined meaty tone there. Using a Yamaha BB435 with Neck pickup only.

curious aobut this too !

Watching the review, for some reasons, triggered me into testing Nobelium's XLR output with the jack output going into the DI output of the Capo (bypassing everything in between in and out). The test was conclusive: I'm getting the pedalnetic miniDI things to use the 2 tubes. fuller / thicker, more compressed, loved it.
