The Sushi Box FX Secret Society

Thanks for the review Carson! Very cool!!

With your Noble, do you notice a difference with the sound coming from the XLR and 1/4 out? I believe the 1/4 goes through both tubes? Is that correct?
To be honest, I never even knew the XLR and 1/4 out could sound differently based on how it was designed… so no I have never noticed that, but I have also not sat down to test that. If they do sound a little different I haven’t noticed.

been hesitating / resisting to run a bunch of Sushi-flavored tests to push the mojo of my starship board a bit further.

Hesitation relates to import fees and the impossibility of choice, therefore I would take a few at once (causing a lot more financial hesitation).

Hence a few related questions:

1) when will the next FINALLY V3 BATCH happen ? I might order now and wait for this one to be ready to get them all shipped.

2) GREENHOUSE: not a lot of user feedback. What do people think ? How does its effect on tone compare to MORE ?

3) J&D CAPO: does it have privileged friends in the Sushi family to give it the only thing it lacks (tuuube)

4) FINALLY: did anyone compare it to SHIFT LINE OLYMPIC (mkIII) ? (different beast but I have my reasons)

Thanks !

Love the Greenhouse. Don't currently have a More so can't answer that. I run my compressor and two Lightning Boy 2020s in the loop. LOVE it

1) Finally v3 and Neptunium builds have been delayed due to a supply chain issue with my transformer manufacturer that I use for the D.I. section. I have a few dozen each of Neptunium and Finally v3 completely built up and just waiting for transformers, so when they do arrive (currently scheduled for April 21) I can just drop the transformers in and be good to go. I should have extra stock of both models, so I hope to have both regularly in stock again by the end of the month.

2) Not a lot of people purchased it, I think I only sold 4 so far. I personally really like it, but I understand it's a specific use case that not everyone needs in their rig. I would say it's pretty tonally similar to More.

3) Not likely. Seems like a pretty good use case for a Greenhouse though.

4) Not personally, nope.

I've already seen a couple on reverb for $450, I think some people didn't realize I'm doing this batch.

Unfortunately, I haven't been on here too much in quite a while other than the past couple of weeks.
I was giddy like a school girl to see that you finally did a "Noble " pedal. Always had hopes that you would because i absolutely LOVED my Noble, but had to sell it. That was several years ago before the price jumped up a thousand bucks...
I'm hoping to snag a Neptunium.
When will your next offering be??

I'm still accepting backorders for them, and I have 52 units(!) fully assembled and just waiting for the transformer, so it shouldn't take me too long to get them finished up and ready to go early next week. About half of them are already spoken for with backorders, the rest will go up as store stock.

Gonna brag one more time on the PMLE. Just a great preamp. I still can't get over how easy it is to get this thing to that point of touch sensitive break up. I thought I would miss having a gain knob, but honestly, just juicing the output a little from my Cali76 and boosting the mids on the PMLE puts it to the point where when normal playing fingerstyle there is just barely this little sizzle up on top. But, really dig in and you get a low to mid level driver break up that is outstanding.

Here is the curious part, at the start of the night it was not quite as noticeable, but as the night wore on last night I could tell I was getting a little bit more and a little bit more drive in there. Maybe as the tube is going steady for a while it gets warmed in or something. Who knows? Don't care, it just sounds cool.

*cough* *cough* Venus Z discount code is still active and the size difference between the two isn't that big *cough* *cough*

permylastemail gets you 15% off Venus Z through the end of the month, so everyone that didn't get PMLE can still get that same great preamp.

Can I suggest a discount on the Grandslampegg in honour of my 50th Birthday next month. GR7G5TER50 for 50% off would be awesome!

Being serious for second (it's rare but happens) if it wasn't for the crazy customer charges we get (grand)slammed with in the UK (about another 100 bucks) I'd order one of these tomorrow.

Yeah the customs charges suck, but I definitely haven't regretted getting the GS, it's become my go to for a whole heap of situations.
If you can justify the cost, I'd pretty much guarantee you'd forget about it in a couple of months.

Sorry if this has been asked.
On the More is unity gain at noon?
Nope, it would have taken too much math to try to get it exact, and even then manufacturing tolerances of the tube would affect it. I want to say it's around 10-11:00 based on rough math, but it's going to be an "actual mileage may vary" instance.

I can't do 50%, but my wife has been saying I should do more promotions and coupons, like a rotating thing where I pick a model to discount each month. Venus Z has been on for April, Grand Slampegg seems as reasonable a candidate as any for May.

Hmm I've been really debating which Sushi tube pedal I'd like to pair with my CAPO. Greenhouse is intriguing, and then I've considered EQ off UA, or Finally V3 at the end of the chain, bonus HPF included. Decisions decisions...
