Used my new little PMLE board at a gig last night. Wireless --> tuner --> boost --> compressor --> PMLE (DI) and then on to the mixer and PA. It was glorious!

It was a wooden stage, and the room had a lot of wood paneling, high ceilings, and was pretty boomy so I did have to do a quick HPF insertion right before the PMLE to tame things a little.

For all those who didn't snag a PMLE, remember that the Venus Z already has that HPF built in!

LOTS of compliments from the audience on bass tone, which in my experience has happened pretty much, um, never!

Sorry, I could have sworn I replied to this and it looks like I didn't post it. It depends on which version it is; if it's one of the earlier ones with two footswitches and the clean boost, then it's not great for bass and shaves off a fair bit of low end. If it's one of the later ones that doesn't have the boost but does have a baxandall (treble/bass) EQ then it was in fact designed for bass and has a much thicker low end.

What is the low end like on the lab rat for bass?? I've seen one for sale and love my rat clone (Jam Rattler Bass) Very intrigued!

PMLE sounded great last night. It was a big hit. Just the output from my Cali set a tad high was enough to get the tube right on that touch sensitive edge of breakup. With a boost, it shined even more.

So stoked with my tube rolling trials this weekend. I liked what the More did, but now found the combo of tubes that grew it a hairy chest... it now makes my little Mesa sound the closest I've been able to get it to sound like my old Prodigy head, just that ballsy grunt.

The 350 doesn't have an fx loop, but any of my amps I use I still run all my pedals in the front.

I've already seen a couple on reverb for $450, I think some people didn't realize I'm doing this batch.

There's a "no talking" version that's live today.

It's pretty good - it seems like the Np has a wider range than the Noble - it's a little darker flat, and it's brighter full on. Sure seems like the Np can do the Noble bit and a little more!

Why does the bass sound fuzzy in that video? Is it the bass? String buzz? Is the bass hitting the Nobel/Neptunium with enough signal to drive it?

I can play my bass through a Finally with a 12ax7 with decent gain and it doesn’t sound fuzzy like that.

No fuzz on my end!

I do have a fair amount of string buzz though. I selected this bass because I think the excitement in the high end helps contrast the units as opposed to a darker instrument without it.
