Good news: I spent a few hours working on SBVT II last night.

Bad news: I'm still not satisfied with it and want to do another redesign.

Good news: I'm pretty sure I know what needs to happen on it, so hopefully it won't take many more revisions to get it ready to go.

So very true, even with all the pedals for adding dirt there is always more or two to sample perhaps to own.
Just check out @johnk_10 collection of dirty deeds!

I have more pedals for dirt flavors than all my others combined it seems even after clearing out 50+ pedals. I recently unearthed one of my old trunks of gear and made a bit of $ for the fun bank with some cool stuff in reserve or added to my 'studio collection'.

Fingers crossed that it's an SVT II pro in a box with graphic eq, gain, and an 810 sim!

Made a large knob for the volume on my Nobelium. I've been using my toe to adjust the volume while playing. Much easier now with a larger knob (made to fit over the original one) and added a Luminlay dot just for convenience 😊

I've been in a black hole for the past 6 months or so and just concentrating solely on spending my time reading bass clef notation and working on advancing internalizing and becoming more improvisational (went to a few Jazz "Jam" nights here locally which really reminded me to break through my current playing plateau.)

TLDR: is PMLE canceled? I see it is archived now, I wanted that form factor since my pedalboard is quite small!

It was just a limited run (for April Fool's day i think?). There's not a lot of them, but I've seen a couple pop up on the classifieds. Keep an eye out and you might get one.

I guess you're already aware, but it is just the tone stack of the Venus Z so you can still get the sound (and kick your current DI off the board)

As mentioned PMLE is the same circuit as Venus Z with a couple of the features removed, so Venus Z covers the same ground and then some in a slightly larger package.

I had a coupon code available for Venus Z when PMLE sold out to encourage people to give Venus Z a shot, it probably wouldn't take much convincing to get me to reopen it if anyone else is thinking about pulling the trigger.

Neither Elementary or UA invert the output since those are both a pair of inverting stages so the output comes out the same phase as the input.

Venus Z is a significantly more complicated circuit. I'm pretty sure output is in phase with the input, but I'll have to double check to be 100% sure.

I honestly haven't decided yet what I want it to be, the scope of the design changes every time I pick it up because my brain says "well maybe this would be cool to throw in". I'll admit I've looked at the graphic EQ as I think it could be neat, but if I did put it in I would make it bypassable like in the old rackmount SVT preamp.

Maybe to keep cost/size down, an effects loop where one could insert an EQ pedal (or anything else) may be a better alternative.

Every thought about doing a 1 or 2U rackmount? Dual preamp rackmount, SBVT on one side, Grand Slammpeg on the other. One can dream!

I was already planning an FX loop, that came up when we had discussed an IR loader. I suppose it would make sense for the EQ as well.

I think about rackmount any time something looks like it's going to get bigger than my current largest enclosure (Dreamcatcher/Detective), but there isn't an easy shop set up to do the machining for me so I would be sourcing blank rackmount chassis (which are already expensive) and doing all the machining and printing in house, which would be inconvenient and add cost. I would be more likely to just find a larger pedal-style enclosure. SBVT II is the first thing I've worked on where I've started to feel like I'm actually constrained for options by the size of the enclosure, there's too much in there and it's going to start overflowing.

Rackmounts are definitely harder to source and machine, so I understand that. Was just thinking the extra space would "free" you to explore more advanced designs. And once the pedals get much larger than DreamCatcher, they start to lose their appeal as being "pedal board friendly".

Though don't let my ramblings distract you. I assume others would be put off by a rackmount preamp, as that would mean a totally different rig setup than what most people have.
