Sushi Box FX shop tour!

I'm still not done organizing everything, but for the first time in a long time I can see my entire workbench. So for what may be the first time ever, here's a quick look at where I spend most of my time.

This is the bench where I usually sit:

This is the secondary bench located perpendicular to mine, where my wife (or whichever child is "working") usually sits.

And this is one of my storage shelves where enclosures and in-stock pedals live. You can also see part of the shelves that hold shipping boxes to the right there.

No, but I'm pretty good about keeping stock updated on the website. If it's on the shelf, it's on the website. Granted this shelf only has the "stock" pedals and doesn't included limited run things, so Tarantula and Neptunium (both of which are also in stock) are on a different shelf.

Man I wish my workshop was as organized!

I've lived in this house for about 5 years, and this is without a doubt the most organized it has ever been. It's been a constant cycle of "if I just add one more shelf/bench/box/bin I'll be able to get organized" and then quickly getting cluttered again. Last friday I completely emptied out the shop so I could put the new flooring in, so I've been taking this opportunity to move things back in slowly and keep them organized as I go. It was an enormous mess when I cleared it out, and I don't want it to go back to being an enormous mess.

Long-time listener, first-time caller here. Dipped my toe into the tube world with a Finally v3 and a Tarantula, and I'm floored. I haven't had much time to dig in this week, but the Finally is an immediately noticeable tone improvement. It let me move my MXR Bass DI to the front of the board as a poor-man's-SVT tone shaper, but I might be looking for a less cumbersome solution there in the future.

The Tarantula is a Germanium Tube fuzz, I don't understand how these are even still available for purchase. What are y'all doin? It's 2 smooth. Buy it.

If that SBVT II ever comes to fruition I'm buying it regardless of the cost.

I mean I'm biased, but yeah agree 100%. I get that fuzz isn't as universally needed as things like preamps or compressors, but the limited run has lasted a lot longer than I expected it to.

I have graphics for the SBVT II and even have a couple boxes I ordered for the prototype, just need to dig it back out. But because so much time has passed since I did the initial design it's probably due for a more comprehensive review to see if there's anything else I can clean up/improve before releasing it.

I tried to help keep drooling to a minimum by hiding all my in-work prototypes and keeping the pictures of PCBs blurry enough that you couldn't zoom in and pick out any surprises.

Initial 15 minute Grand Slampegg report: it's very smooth, fat and punchy! Or it can be if you want it to. I ended up with the HPF engaged, bass and treble boosted half way and playing a P with flats. Simply lovely. I definitely need to experiment some more and with play it with other basses, but so far it definitely earned it's keep.

I might have saved the pictures to my hard drive and looked for a Unagi M1380 Inductor......maybe......a little bit.
I was wondering why your pics were fuzzy, it must have been just for me.
I might have to get a M1380 on my next C2CE order in case I want to make a full size SVT one day

If you squint your eyes you may find something more further away way from release

My Finally V2 was one of the misprints without the WBIM logo. It came in a fancy “Special Edition” box

Yeah that's just one of the earlier Finally v2 WBIM.

Weller stations! Do you have any dedicated desoldering tools or do you just use good old solder wick + sucker?
And I don't see any fume extractor. Do you just huff it all in

I honestly don't do a lot of desoldering. When I do I usually use either the hot air station or a hot plate, depending on what's on the board and what needs to be taken off. Solder sucker and wick are great for cleanup afterward.

I had a fume extractor for years, but I was never thrilled with it so last week I threw it out and am shopping around for a new one.

I don’t intend to blaspheme, but there is such a thing as “enough” when it comes to fuzz pedals. As good as the Tarantula is, my fuzz redundancy is profound. I’ve talked myself down from this purchase a dozen times. Fuzz pedals are like Lay’s potato chips, no one can eat just one, but eventually the bag is empty.
