The Sushi Box FX Secret Society

It's actually different, I keep forgetting to go back and do the math on it.

Technical Content Warning - Proceed only if you're into that sort of thing

The 90Hz -6dB/octave filter is a passive RC (resistor-capacitor) filter, but the way I'm doing this on More is by changing the cathode bypass capacitor, which affects the frequency response of the tube gainstage itself. This is how I did the Bass Boost in Black Eye II and the Deep switch on JC Emerald, I'm just doing it backwards on More, taking away low end instead of adding it. I did some math during the design, but I didn't take into account the fact that More has parallel gainstages, which affects the frequency response and the math isn't as straightforward as it is for a single gainstage. The filter value I chose based on my calculation was subtle to the point of being inaudible, so I tuned it by ear until I was happy with the effect.

Because of this I'm thinking about calling it a "bass cut" instead of an HPF. They obviously mean the same thing, but if you say HPF people expect you to know the cutoff frequency and slope, but if you just say bass cut nobody seems to care about the numbers :P

Give it the same HPF treatment as the Finally v3 with the dial and I think it would be a valuable addition for both Bass Players and Guitar Players alike. Don't even really need an off switch if the HPF goes down to 20 Hz.

There is no way it would fit. More has always been tightly packed, it was a miracle I was even able to fit in a toggle switch.
 
Someday perhaps! Or should that be mayhaps? How long has this been in the longing phase now?
It's been a while, but it's actively back in the queue. I had some weird ideas recently, so I've scrapped the previous design and started over.

If so, what are some of your favorite settings and what type of music do you use them on?

I'm really interested in the Sensitivity & Attack settings the most

A short Attack seems to induce the most prominent squish. If I weren’t blending a parallel dry, I’d want to back off the Attack even more. This is with a Kubicki in active mode, classic rock blues material. So far I don’t have a favorite, there’s lots of favorites.

Thanks, that should give me a really good starting point. I do a lot of classic rock, blues, along with some grunge and more modern rock. I'll be using a passive bass, a custom built Ferner Fine Instruments out of Memphis. Delano pups with a dual coil Jazz pup in the Fender 1951 - 57 single coil position and a Delano quad coil humbucker in the Wal bridge position. VV (concentric) T (single knob) controls and a 3 way serial / single coil/ parallel switch for the humbucker. Kind of a super PJ, it's pretty versatile especially for a passive bass with 7 pup options due to the two volume and 3 way switch controls.

@Sushi Box FX : I noticed the controls on The Watt are slightly differently labeled than on the Single Slice. Is "Comp" = "Release" and "Sens" = "Treshold" or do these functions work differently?
They are the same controls and have been relabeled per Mike's request. I actually updated the labels on Single Slice last time I ordered enclosures, I just keep forgetting to update the picture on the website.

I have two starting points I use depending on what I'm going for, either squishy but with lots of clean blend, so comp up ~75% Sens low, attack low and then blend to taste. Or the more subtle setting with the comp at about a third, and then attack at 12ish and sens somewhere over half way depending on the bass.
The squashier setting is super enjoyable to play, it just feels really nice, and would be my go to for the majority of the time and then just dial it in and out with the blend as needed.
