It may have been the PS causing the hiss, OR it may have been the combination with another specific pedal(s) and/or the order of the pedals. If the 1 spot doesn't solve the problem, consider variations in the order of the pedals and removing 1 of the other pedals at a time. FWIW I used to use a CIOKS and have switched to only 1-spots. Regardless of PS, my S-Box Glass Butterfly multiFX modulator is still picky in terms of where it sits in the chain.

Compared to the JDI, it loses it's acoustic feeling in favour of a slightly more amped-up feel, most obvious on very low and very high notes, which both gain a bit of roundness. Of course it's not just a case of eq - the tone changes throughout the entire frequency spectrum, and all these changes are very subtle, the overall tone remains very very clean and defined. You're losing some minute detail in order to add depth/air.

These differences were again confirmed tonight when I put it through it's paces as my sole pedal, running into the JDI at a gig. I borrowed a spare power supply/plug from the guitarist, and had no problems with hiss. At high volumes, the Greenhouse felt thick, creamy, fat etc. but still perfectly suited to accompany an acoustic guitar.

I still need to do a lot of playing with it before I add other pedals to the mix. For example, I've found that the tube is very sensitive to the buffer in a Boss TU2. Putting the tuner before, in the the loop, or after the Greenhouse all had a surprisingly large affect on volume, as well as tone. I had a great time putting a student's cheap Behringer OD3 distortion/overdrive pedal in the loop. My bass and guitar both went from very plastic to pretty expensive sounding in the loop! It completely transformed that pedal.

Overall i'm a very happy customer. As long as the 1spot can help eliminate that cheap power supply hiss then i can see myself permanently keeping the Greenhouse on my board as an essential always-on tone sweetener and level set. It complements the JDI very very well. I never felt my tone was sterile before, but I'd happily recommend this pedal to anyone in that position.

I have an incoming used Venus X but cannot find it's dimensions in the archive on the S-Box site. Anyone know if it's the bigger box like the Dreamcatcher/Detective (which I presume) or the medium one like the Glass Butterfly/ JC Emerald? It's already en route and the seller isn't sure.

I second that observation with my own (certainly more amateurish!) tests with the Glasshouse.

I have not yet gigged with it, and I usually play bass mostly clean into my amp (Eich BC112) so I'm still wondering whether to use its FX loop or just use it as an always-on subtle tone sweetener. I guess I'm favoring the latter. Volume at 9 o'clock is unity gain so there's plenty of boost available, too.
As to hiss: I do use the provided power supply and get a little bit of hiss at higher volume (more noticeable with guitar with single coils) — but the tube also provides more highs in the signal then, so I guess this is similar to dirt pedals, although the Glasshouse itself surely stays clean.

It's a very interesting pedal for my use cases! If the FX loop would not be of interest, I'd think a More would be a better (and smaller) alternative.

Finally made its way onto my upright bass pedal board. Such a lovely finishing touch, really the icing on the cake. HPF interacts strangely electronically (whiz buzz whirl!) when engaged with the ToneDexter 2, but I’ve got HPF on my amp heads so no matter…
TD2 is set at 50/50 direct/wavemap blend for body and “air”

I've had a handful of people report weirdness happening when the Finally v3 HPF is used immediately after a modeler, it's something I'm actively investigating.

Let me know if you want me send you my board with the TD2 to experiment with getting that worked out. I can gig with only my Bee Pre for a couple weeks instead if it helps the cause.

@JBarz, I'm curious what power supply you're using on your pedalboard. Fully isolated power supplies help, but not in all cases.

I am BRAND NEW in here..... I've been trying to search & search, so be kind if I ask the question that makes you wanna tell me to use the search. I just took a chance on a trade with a Slampegg Bee Pre X, and I'm trying to learn all I can on it. Really enjoying it so far!

1. Is there a manual?
2. I've seen some of the name change info, but what does "Pre X" refer to? - answered, thanks!
3. What's that internal trimpot do?

The first iteration of the Slampeg Bee Pre used a Russian military mini tube, soldered to the circuit board. Then Nathan redesigned it to run with a socketed 12AX7 tube, hence the “x”identifier. Not sure what may still be on the website regarding a manual, but start by feeding it 500ma 9v isolated power. Don’t exceed 12v.

I received the More v2 today! Very happy with it after an initial test run. Nathan offered to swap it for the Single Slice I had problems with, amazing. It lives on my recording board for now. It compresses a little more than I anticipated, and in my case that’s a great thing since it’s replacing the SS. The bass cut switch works great too, it’s a bit too steep of a cut for most of my uses, but still useful for bass. The last remaining spot on that board is reserved for a JPTR Jive Deluxe.
