I'm tempted by the Mayday. However the EQ points are exactly the same as my Venus Z. I am intrigued by the "warmer and bigger" lows but I'm gonna hold out for the next version of the Finally.

I know there might not be a set time for the next Finally but I'll ask anyway. Is there an ETA? Sometime later this year? Early 2027?

Ugh, I have a PMLE and love it (hasn’t left my board since I got it). I had been saving up to try a Capo but used the funds on a Mayday. Anxious to compare them and see which one stays and maybe sell the other. If history is any indication though I will keep them both haha.

I'm sure it will happen because I can't leave well enough alone, and as I said I like to improve things based on new knowledge I gain, but I don't have specific plans for Finally v4 at the moment. I'm currently cycling between the Venus Z and the Finally v1(VZ atm) There different things i like about each but I wouldn't hesitate to use either one.

You know upgrading the Watt with a newer updated Finally would be a have to have for me. Just saying.

I know it's Mayday, but I just got a More v2. Why does no one talk about how great of a standalone bass preamp it is? Sound thick and rich just P bass -> More -> interface. I'll post some demos once I get more time with it, sounds *awesome* in my guitar rig too.

I'd love to hear what the More does in this scenario. If you do manage to record a demo could you do a pass with the More disengaged first?

I've been shipping to the EU without issue, and I have a Certificate of Origin and Declaration of Compliance for when it is requested. Most shipments clear customs without them, so far the only countries that have requested it are Poland and Austria, but even then it hasn't been requested on every shipment.

Customs do not worry me, this is just money. A pedal that is running at 220V internally and where I am the importer and carry all legal obligations (including missing an obligatory security label) is what makes me nervous.

I think I'm " Finally" cured of my sushi box gas. At least momentarily haha. My new ish mini board with my new Finally: it is everything I want as a quick trip, grab and go solution. I have another board I double up with at home (just more preamp choices haha). This is the core of how I like to sound. 2 main amps are a V4-b reissue and a Fender Acb50, so im learning to leave well enough alone a bit.

Kind of. The EQ is based on GK voicing but the preamp itself is an original design.


No, PMLE used a 12AX7 but I tailored the preamp to basically run at low gain so it ran clean. On Mayday I decided to bias the tube differently and use a lower gain tube.


The intention is limited run, but based on how well PMLE sold compared to Venus Z I have been considering making a permanent swap to a smaller design for this circuit.


Mids shifted from 1.2kHz to 1kHz, treble shifted from 5kHz to 7kHz (sounds high for bass use, but Q factor is important and I promise it works), increased the voltage to the EQ section to avoid clipping when a hot input is used, rebiased the preamp to use 12AU7 instead of 12AX7, and adjusted the buffer on the 1/4" output for lower output impedance to better drive things like power amps.

Can we consider that Mayday will allow for breakup with a 12AX7, which cannot be achieved with the Venus Z (unless we boost the signal in)?

With a 12AX7 or 12AT7 installed in Mayday you will start to overdrive the EQ section of the pedal which in turn can push the output stage into breakup, but that's not something I intended to happen. I tried a 12AX7 during prototyping because that's what's in Venus Z and PMLE, but I didn't like the results. Mayday takes overdrive pedals well so that's a good option to get some grit, but I personally don't think running 12AX7 in it for grit is a great option.

Mayday is my first foray into Nathan’s work. Not gonna lie, the promo vid was aces. I’m cuckoo for tube gear, and am really curious to compare Mayday to a Japanese SVT preamp i really dig, the Royal Oldies. Two different animals to be sure, but that’s kinda the point. I sprung for the power supply, a real bargain, IMO.

Regardless, Im happy to make Mayday my first Sushi Box pedal. Big fan of the business model, love supporting these smaller builders.

What was the Status Meeting? I missed that. Just a HPF pedal? I'm assuming that may have been a one off.
