Status Meeting was a prototype to try out a transformerless tube D.I. Basically the first triode of the tube acts as the "preamp", and the second triode kind of acts like a cathodyne phase inverter to give a balanced output signal, and that gets fed directly to the XLR output for a quick-and-dirty tube D.I. I didn't dislike it, but there was obviously a lot of functional overlap with Finally v3 so Status Meeting didn't really seem like it was worth releasing.
I did send one to my friend Christian (basspedalnerds on insta) to try out and he includes it in his posts every now and then, but I think that's the only unit actually out in the wild.
What about the inverse, putting a 12AU7 in the Venus Z? What characteristics would change?
For starters you would have a lower output volume as the output stage was throttled down to handle the gain of the 12AX7, but you would have more headroom up front before the EQ section clips, so you could get away with pushing the input harder with a hot active bass or another pedal and still have the preamp run clean.
So when I get a new pedal I like to run some pink noise from my Roland S-1 through it to visualize the EQ a bit. A few disclaimers here: 1. the signal from the synth isn't even and this makes it really spikey, so look at broad trends rather than individual points, 2. it rolls off hard on the high end so ignore that, 3. I just like playing around with my toys so don't take this too seriously, but thought y'all might enjoy.
More v2 Bass Cut Off: super flat down to super low frequencies, as expected.
More v2 Bass Cut On: It starts rolling off gently right around the 1kHz mentioned in the FAQ, rolling off more as it goes. This leaves almost a tubescreamer-ish upper mids bump which jives with the "tightening" description and my own experience so far using it to push the front end of amps. The "Bass Cut" definitely still has some bass utility if you wanted to turn it up and use it as a mid-forward boost.

My Mayday arrived this morning and I have to say the purple finish is amazing.
I had a few minutes to compare the PMLE and the Mayday and it’s like Nathan mentioned…the Mayday sounds a bit thicker, I’d say a bit more vintage sounding while the PMLE a bit more modern with the clearer articulation.
I’m sure with some playing with the EQ I could make them more similar than I got in 5 minutes of comparing them, but with knobs in similar places that is what I noted (knowing the knobs in similar places doesn’t mean much when the EQ on the 2 are slightly different to start with).
Overall, for the tone I’m going for, I’ll probably swap out my PMLE on my main board with the Mayday…but as I feared I still love the PMLE too much to let it go so I may need a to go back to having a second board for when I want its tonal characteristics.

PMLE is news to me - i get my MAYDAY on Monday and will compare to the new Mesa pre.

PMLE was a limited run of 20 units that was brought back/sold out by popular demand (only available on the secondary market).
I already have more Pre-amp/DIs than I need (including PMLE, Finally V3, Neptunium, SCR-DI, and Subway+ "Mk I") but very interested in hearing your thoughts.
High plate voltage, low impulse control.
I had the Neptunium but sold it to get the Walrus Audio Mantle. I am intrigued by the Mayday. I wish it had the HPF switch like the Neptunium.
