While I do like the fact that these pedals can be customized so much, I'd recommend sticking with 1 design for each pedal, and maybe just offer a choice of different colored LED's and knobs. It would probably allow you to get a few more pedals done every month and make your life a little less stressful. Maybe switch switch it up every so often with some limited run variations (colors) every so often?

That's more or less where I'm going starting in April I made the mistake of offering 14 or so different color options which ends up taking a lot of time. Starting March I assigned a color to each pedal with the optin to pay extra for the color you want, but there are still a good number of pedals so that still worked out to be a bunch of colors. Starting in April everything will be raw finished and you can choose between simple artwork (like they have now) or full-color artwork at no charge, or you can pay extra to get a different color, but I'm only offering 4 colors. It should speed things up quite a bit.

I would think anything with less gain, what comes in it? EF84, maybe try the EF83? that's a good question. Do you already have one?

No, but I had an Edison for a while. If the Westinghouse can be less compressed as stated, I may grab one and try to find a tube with the least amount of breakup.

If the Westinghouse is very similar to the Edison when set at the Edison’s tube voltage level - it should be pretty natural sounding and not offer much breakup - if the Edison bass video sample is accurate . At least that’s how it sounds to my ears . I’d expect a different brand of tube might yield a smoother note bloom but which brand will do that needs to be figured out once they get into circulation . At 79 bucks a pop for well regarded NOS tubes from high quality sources - tube rolling could get very pricy fast . It will be interesting to hear the Senor’s thoughts on the Mullard he did get . I never thought the Edison had much audible compression. Especially, in comparison to other tube pre pedals. I thought the Edison added some tube warmth/dynamics and that's about it. It's really good at that though. My Archetype, Power Stage, Slampeggs and PA all have more audible compression over the Edison.

Well, I know with 12a_7 pedals the 12au7 would have lesser gain, as would the 12at7, less gain doesn't always equal more headroom but its headed in the right direction

A fair question, but not one I'm well-equipped to answer. I don't have many pentodes lying around, and EF86 is the only thing I've tried. Looking at datasheets I think @labeledbass 's suggestion of EF83 is solid, it will be lower gain so should provide less breakup.

Yup, this^ If you have an Edison around to try, obviously anything that works for Edison will work for Westinghouse.

I feel like “ less compressed “ and less “ breakup “ is a difficult combination to find in a tube device . That seems like more of a solid state type of thing . I may be misunderstanding things but I don” t think either the Edison or Westinghouse are designed to do both those things . My guess is the Westinghouse will compress less with more juice available to the tube but then also break up more too at the higher plate voltage . That said I may well be wrong too ! Kelly

The VTBP-201S is supposed to be one of the better preamps out there, I've heard good things about it. My plate is already a little full, but if anyone has one lying around they wouldn't mind letting me peak at, let me know

I have the original VTBP-201 at Demeter being rebuilt right now. Happy to send it to you when it's fixed! Have been looking for a smaller solution to that one for a long time.

Looked into having this rehoused and was quoted $900. Seemed reasonable but higher than I wanted to spend.

That would actually be awesome, I would love to not have to buy one only to figure out how it works then have to try to sell it afterward. Let me know when you have it back and would be willing to send it to me, I would be happy to give you something for the trouble

I think the original is the best sounding of them all as well. Big, beautiful sounding preamp.

Gut shots of the VTBP-201 would indicate it is completely pedal-able by @Sushi Box FX.
