Take away the DI out and you've got a single tube for the preamp I believe....so definitely doable.

Really? That's it? Seems like an awfully big box for a single tube preamp and a D.I., but then again rackmount people gonna rackmount.

Yeah, I think that looks pretty stompboxable (actual verb, don't bother looking it up). Without the D.I. I could see it fitting in the same size enclosure as Deep Dish, I'm still at least a month away from figuring out how I want to start doing D.I., but the prototype I designed to test out the D.I. transformers I got would probably be about the right size for two tubes and a D.I.

Alembic F1X, Arkham Zephyr (after cathode follower went SS), Alembic F2-B, SWR Grand Prix, all the ones I had only held 1 12ax7. Only guys that cram more than 3 would be Ampeg, my CL has 4 and Pro has 5.
I have SVP-CL you could recreate, its an amazing preamp, pretty much clean in a very nice way

Ampeg is actually one of the more transparent companies with their schematics, I can find just about everything they've ever done directly from them online. The SVP-CL looks interesting though, lots of tone options with the rotary switches.

I'd be willing to bet nice tube pre based off the SVT would be a hit, now that SansAmp has calmed down a bit
SVT pre would be the best selling pedal yet by far, I would bet my life on it.
I'd kill for an SVT t00b pedal. My practice amp is an SVT. That's how much I like them.
I had one. The SVP-CL is not bad, but I think too much Ampeg could also be a bad thing. The SVP-CL isn't quite an SVT nor is it a B-15. Tonally I'd say it's nebulous but has the Ampeg house sound. I used it when I had a Berg powered speaker years ago.
I do not condone violence, so fortunately you won't have to kill anyone for an SVT tube pedal. It's on my list of prototypes, the circuit board will go out in my next order probably next week, I should have a prototype some time in February, and depending on whether it works I could have it available in a couple months. It will be the same size as Deep Dish or Dr. Wattson X, that's going to be my go-to dual 12AX7 size. Since X series run so well on 9V I'm going to start going straight to 12AX7 for new designs from now on, rather than trying to do both mini and X.
I recently acquired DI transformers from both Lightning Boy Audio and Jensen, and I designed a pedal that is basically a PAX with both transformers in there and a toggle switch to go between the two transformers so I can do a direct A/B. This will not be available as a build as it would be hideously expensive (ignoring the rest of the build the two transformers together are $150), but it will be a very useful testing tool for me.
Based on how the test goes I will probably choose one transformer over the other, then design one or two preamps with D.I. Unfortunately DI transformers are tall, so they won't fit in any of my current size boxes. The new boxes are bigger, but that should allow a pair of 12AX7 in addition to the transformer and the rest of the circuitry.
Looking at the schematic there are actually a couple cathode followers in there, pretty common for a nice low impedance driver before or after an EQ stage, and with all the tone shaping going on in there I'm not surprised there are a couple of them.
you just drop all that all matter of fact like. Ya, just got circuit board coming for SVT proto. And a box with LB and Jensen transformers. NBD.
Replacing cathode followers with MOSFETs is a very valid option to save tube stages.

DI Shootout - didn't feel like thinking of a clever name for this one, but it's a PAX with both the Lightning Boy Audio and Jensen DI transformers and a switch to A/B the two. I will definitely be posting clips with the different transformers and asking opinions.
Sunnday Drive X - enough people asked for it that I decided to make it more of a priority. This will be a little different since I can only fit one footswitch, so there's a toggle switch to activate or bypass the preamp, and the footswitch just activates the boost. Based on a few people's feedback I thought that would be the most useful configuration, we'll see how it turns out with the prototype.
12AX7 daughter board redesign - someone suggested that the notch between the tube's pin 1 and pin 9 on X series builds face up instead of down to make swapping tubes easier, and it was about time to order more of the boards anyway, so I went for it.
Space Heater v1 - I made a couple dumb mistakes in v0 that I was able to fix by jumping wires around, but I cleaned up the layout and fixed the mistakes, so this will be the version going into production in March.
Deep Dish v1.2 - Right now v1.1 is the one I've been building, but v1.1 included a bunch of options I wasn't sure if I would need, and it made things more complicated and time consuming to build, so I took out everything I wasn't using and am rolling a new version.
Optipus Compressor v2.0 - I'm hoping this is the one that finally works the way I want it to. The v0 version sounded pretty good, but it had some issues, and v1 made those issues worse, so I did some homework and I'm trying v2.
King Nothing - Definitely geared more towards the guitarists, this is a clone of the Kingsley Harlot that a friend sent me to trace a schematic for.
Vampire Slayer - My take on the Effectrode Glass A buffer, using a 12AU7 instead of the mini tube, still fits in my smaller size box.
Currently Unnamed SVT CL preamp - Yup, SVT preamp using a pair of 12AX7, same size box as Deep Dish etc. I haven't finished the layout yet, but I plan to finish it as soon as the January orders are done so it can go out with the rest of these for a February prototype.
That sounds interesting with dual tubes ... wonder if the SV-Pre folks will drool.

man, u just be you. However/whenever/whatever U know we all eat it up. I think it’s cool how engaged and passionate you are about this and it shows. So many cool ideas and you are always so eager to kick the ball around and at least entertain all these crazy ideas.
I do feel like something was left off that list that I remember being very intrigued by.... I think it started with a G..........
There is too much happening right now. My mind is blending all these possibilities together. I'm in the hunt for my final all tube DI, and can't afford a Jule. I can afford a used Kahn or a Shaw Tube Injection,. They pop up now and then. So then I started considering the Westinghouse, but I sort of need the DI thing. Now the possibility of an SVT tube pedal? Will it all be too much with my Deep Dish? I am losing my bearing in reality. I might have to start buying April slots for pedals that might not ever exist.
