I'm going to be wrong with the attenuator idea, An fx Loop would probably be the only way to keep Unity gain when the pedal is off and then on . Is there something in front of the pedal causing this? Is your other Sushi pedal the same non X tube? I'm getting a Wattson by the end of the week, been waiting a long time. @Sushi Box FX is the impedance different between his two pedal or is it the xtra tube doing something. I thought attenuator at first, but it would be super quiet when disengaged, you really would need a FX Loop if you could not remedy the problem before the pedal
It's just the Dr Wattson that is high output, it's a "proper" preamp, with an output level sufficient to drive a power amp. Mine is a "mini tubes" but I don't believe that makes a difference. I can get the Slampegg at unity in whatever gain position I like, but the Doc is just too hot.
In Nate's words:
Dr. Wattson is definitely the highest output preamp I make. London Underground is loud, but not that loud. Sunnday Drive is fairly loud, louder than London Drive I think, but maybe a little less than Dr. Wattson.
