Ah, fair enough. I haven't finished powdercoating yet, but I will naturally let you know when I do and post that picture everywhere. It will be a neat one.

Mids frequency selector. I couldn't find a 5-position switch like the original uses, so rather than take away an option and use a 4-way switch I added three options and used an 8-way switch. They're still subtle, it's nothing extreme, but yup. More options.

As long as one of those options is around 700-800 Hz, I'm happy.

In order to divert my attention from the SBVT, I'm going to change the subject. A few pages ago I was talking about how my Dr Wattson had continuous noise issues. I kept trying it in different outlets and different power supplies. The other day I shut everything down to go to sleep. Unbeknownst to me, I left the Wattson on because I forgot that it was on its own power supply. I went down to pack it up and ship it back to Nate for diagnostics. I saw that it had been left on for about 48 hrs. Naturally I plugged it in. Lo and behold... the noise was gone. there is a tiny bit of high frequency ring, but it is so quiet as to not matter. Could the tubes just have needed an extensive burn in time? I can't imagine any of the other components needing it. Anyway, problem solved for now. Other than I probably need an X version because... Because... BIGGER TUBES!?

Well that's absurdly weird, but glad it worked itself out? Typically burn-in time for tubes is just because if a tube is going to fail it will most likely do it within the first hundred or so hours of use, so manufacturers or suppliers will burn them in to ensure that they are good and won't fail. There definitely isn't anything else in there that I would expect to behave differently after a burn in period. So obviously I'm thrilled that the problem is more or less gone without you having to send it back to me, but definitely keep an eye on it and let me know if it starts acting up again.

I had similar sounding symptoms on my new Particale Accelerator. I tried eveything you described and more. In the end I think I cured it with very slightly deeper tube insertion into the socket. Maybe heat cycling has an effect on the tube connector sockets?

Funny that you should mention that, there have been a couple issues with X series pedals (particularly PAX) being noisy and they ended up being fixed by seating the tube better in the socket.

The Dr. Wattson was one of the mini-tube versions though, so I have no idea what could have happened on that one.

There's definitely a warm up time for many components, not just the tubes with those. I had already made several stems of issues that I couldn't describe ready to send off to Nathan but right about 3-4 hours of idle/light playing, the majority of those sounds were gone. Bad microphonics still existed but that's it. I remember my PA doing the same, but it got quieter much faster, maybe because just one tube, different gain stage, I dunno, but before you start going completely mad definitely run the thing a while, seems to help

Is it possible to powder coat the rest and have a graphic atop like this? I guess anyone could simply tape up the top graphic and spray the bottom themselves but I was wondering if the color of the print surface has a positive/negative effect on the overall art, brightness ect. I know it would be extra work, but a matt black bottom/sides with printed top would be awesome, and more expensive. This looks cool, finishing off the rest would top it off

I tried that in March as a special request and it didn't work out very well. The UV printer can print in white, so you can lay down a whole layer of white then print the colors on top, but even with a 100% white ink output (I typically print around 10-15%) the background is still too dark and makes the artwork hard to see. I agree it would be really cool, but I have yet to do it well enough to be viable.

Mine has been hinting for a new car.I nipped it in the bud and told her our Nissan is fine,and she has accepted this.Cottage? She knows there's no chance.

Well I'm glad I procrastinated on this one, my usual knob supplier got blue and red knobs back in stock, so I placed an order that will take care of May and June. Still no pink knobs though, so I'll be reaching out to the people (or just one person I think) that had pink chosen. I'm glad I was able to get all the other colors covered though.
