The Sushi Box FX Secret Society

So I just ordered a new cabinet for my guitar rig (getting rid of my low-end 412 in favor of a higher-end 212) and it's a custom build, but the guy says it will be done in a week. Apparently I'm doing everything wrong :p Or are cabinets just easier to build than pedals? Maybe I just suck at woodwork, I always assumed cabinets took a long time.
What he said, “a week”.
Translation into English, “two to three weeks”
Likely completion, “less than six weeks”.

proper expectations are the key to happiness.

A week for a 2 speaker cab seems a tad optimistic but not impossible at all . Depends on how it's being done . There are flat pack kits that are precut and ready to assemble and could be called " custom " and they can certainly be done quickly . Even an original design can be done fairly quickly - assuming the maker has some experience and expertise . As in all things though - it's not the speed of manufacture that really matters - it's the end result . Does it sound good ? ! .... Kelly

So I talked to my buddy thay recommended them to me, apparently 1-2 weeks is pretty typical. They're a pretty big outfit (V Boutique) so for the most part they have raw cabs already made and when a "custom" order comes on they through the tolex on and send it out, so 1-2 weeks sound reasonable.

My new amp won't be ready for 5-6 months so I'm not in a hurry, but I was shocked that he said he expected to ship by the end of next week.

So……. What color Tolex? What are you loading it with? Sealed or open back? What amp are you pairing it with?

Black tolex with a crimson front panel, it has a removable back panel but I'll probably mostly run it closed. I'm going to put in Tone Tubby Alnico Red and 40/40, I have a pair of each in my 412 right now and I love the combo but 412 is just a ridiculous size, and it isn't even a nice one. For now it will go with my home built Matchless Lightning clone, and in a few months it will go with my Ceriatone DZ-30 (Matchless DC-30 clone). Yeah, I have a thing for Matchless tone but not Matchless prices :P

On a more bass-related note, I finally finished soldering up the Underground Accelerator SE boards. I believe in the proper use of words so I won't say ot literally took forever, but it took a non-literal eternity to get these all assembled.

I was glad to have dropped by.
My thinking on the PreAmp DI
Option for either the LBA or Jensen in a small box w/o switch although a mute might be nice.
If a customer wants the option of transformer choice move to larger box.
Option for a mute/tune switch w tuner loop or an efx loop for speaker SIM

I'm still dreaming of a box combining a Slampegg Bee / Underground Accelerator /(switchable) effect loop or insert /
DI with mute, pad, ground lift 1/4 & xlr . For future reference.

I'm still thinking about doing an option for either transformer as I have a handful of both around, but I don't plan to keep stock of both of them as DI transformers are pricey and I don't want to have to stock two different kinds. I definitely don't plan on offering both in one box like I have, that's over $100 in transformers alone. I'll have to find out for sure which company would be able to support production, I know Lightning Boy is a small outfit, but anyway more news on the DI in the future.

I couldn’t make it live and but watched about half later before I fell asleep. That was really cool that you did that. I’ll watch the rest later but I’m definitely interested in the DI and glad to hear there is a projection for that. I think a simple box with no switch would be great and an affected through in addition to the DI. Not sure if you covered this later in the video but do you know the frequency values of the Underground Accelerator?

Do you know about Lehle? A really high quality manufacturer that sells transformers in bulk. Just a thought.
