So I have a friend that also builds pedals that I talk to a lot. He isn't as far along technically as I am, so he likes to suggest ideas for pedals that he doesn't have the know-how for. One that he suggested almost a year ago, and that I thought "oh yeah that would be neat" then 100% flushed from my memory, was a tube FX loop.
Basically a clean preamp with two stages and an FX send/return between the two, so you can run digital effects, modulation, etc. through them and get some nice tube warmth on both the input and the output. I should have designed it right away when he suggested it, and it would have already gone through a revision or two and been an excellent, mature product. Instead my stupid brain threw it away, and @letsgethandsome just reminded me that it should have existed by now. So that's another thing that's on my list now.

My Sushi Box dream box has an effects loop post the pre amps for adding Ictineo, modulation, delay, reverb and possibly CAB SIM before the DI. HMMMM.
Check out Anasound. Most of their pedals have bamboo adhered to the enclosure. I’m sure someone knows what they use.
That’s awesome. I’m going to be running my UA at the end of an FX loop to get some tubiness on the EHX BMS into a Tone Hammer. Didn’t really think about how it will warm up the drive and chorus before that though.
So here's a question for my market research team:
In something like an FX loop pedal where I will have input, output, send and return jacks, where should they be? Everything still on top? Input/Output on top and send/return on sides? Vice versa? Where should the jacks go for something like this?

Happily trending in my own peculiar direction.
Tops for me. Every time I look at a pedal with side jacks I go “meh, better be a good one” to even consider it. I have around 15 pedals (with one more coming
) and I only have 2 older Boss pedals and my tuner that have side jacks. None of those are currently on a board that I use. Top jacks ftw.
Preferably everything on top. If not, In/Out on sides, Send/Return on top.
I’m a fan on the top jacks as well
All on the face and an expression for wet to dry
One on each side of the case, power supply on the top face
And the tube sticking out the bottom.
In/out on top, send/return ON THE FACE.
So I must have missed this. Whats in the works? A FXloop? With a valve inside?

That's the gist of it, yup. Planning to start with something like a Space Heater, probably with a 12AU7 or 12AT7 to make sure it stays more or less clean, then instead of feeding one stage into the other I'll have an FX loop between them, so tube stage -> loop -> tube stage.
If you could fit a Blend/mix/clean knob (whatever you want to call it), that's be amazing. Being able to blend/mix in a pedal that itself doesn't have that mix knob is a extremely handy feature.
I didn't get as much time as usual to work tonight as I spent a few hours jamming with a new band. I did manage to get all the tube sockets, power jacks, and footswitches installed though, so each one is only 10-20 minutes away from being finished. I'm hoping to have these all shipped by saturday at the latest.
