Thanks for the recommendation! At that price point after shipping it wouldn't be much different than buying a mackie or QSC locally. As I said before, nearly every gig I do is with IEMs running direct to the house. The sushi box preamp is the real reason I'm able to do this so effectively. I've been spoiled, and the small handful of gigs I do each year that require an amp just leave me dissatisfied. I don't really want to spend 1k on a good cabinet that I'll only use once every two months. I was thinking a powered speaker would be sufficient and cheaper.

If you can live with it not having a great low end representation (as far as I have gathered many people do actually seem to be quite content with that), to an extend that as far as I am concerned would be required to be used with a bass, then it would be cheaper, otherwise I am afraid it wouldn't really be.

The only PA speaker in that kind of price class that I am aware of doing a satisfactory job at that is the PA 502 A that I mentioned, otherwise it seems to me that you need to pay considerably more to obtain that, and then you, if money is the main concern, might as well have bought a real bass cab.

However you might be able to find something as cheap and great as the PA 502 A locally that could, though I don't think the odds are high for that, I at least don't know of any, or you might be able to live with the poor low end representation that just about every other PA speaker in that kind of price class would have (as far as I have gathered many people do actually seem to be quite content with that), but otherwise I don't think you are going to save much by buying an active fullrange PA speaker compared to buying a proper bass cab.

Fact is that great fullrange PA speakers in general aren't really any cheaper than great bass cabs, though most crappy PA speakers will be cheaper than most crappy bass cabs.

Though if you already got an amp, why not use that to drive a passive full range PA speaker?

The passive PA 502 (without the attached A at the end of the model name) is almost half the price of the active version.

Quick announcement: My stock of FV-1 chips is starting to run low, and the current lead time for new chips is absurd, so I can't take any more orders of Echosaurus or Robot Butterfly until further notice. I don't know whose Westinghouse is on Reverb, but I've been trying to talk someone into buying it, looks like he hasn't yet. He was my "how do I make my Helix sound more tubey" email from last week, but he lives outside the US and is visiting for a couple weeks, so rather than have him wait a month for a custom build and international shipping on top of that I recommended picking up a used one while he's here (especially since I'm not building WH anymore).

If you have a pending order and find the same thing you ordered used let me know, if you're okay with getting a used unit instead of waiting for a new one it doesn't hurt my feelings. You can cancel your slot or change it to a different build if you want something else too. You can get the pedal you want faster, the person who sold it to you has some cash that they can put toward more gear, the circle of life goes on.

I'm always happy to sell new gear, but seeing used gear sell doesn't hurt my feelings. Save a couple bucks, save the planet.

Any updates on the full color artwork for Underground Accelerator? I just ordered plain text but curious what the full color might look like.

So the artist had a handful of ideas, I narrowed it down to two I liked, milled out a couple enclosures and printed both, and I powdercoated them last night so I could see what they're really going to look like.

So I'm like 95% done with the decision. There was one that I liked a little more than the other, but when I printed them it didn't pop as much as the other one, so the one I liked less on the screen I now like better on the enclosure. They both look really good, but one just translated to a metal background better, and I'll probably go with that one. I've set a deadline of tonight for myself to make a decision, and I already have a circuit board ready to go so putting the full pedal together should take all of 5 minutes, and I should be able to have a final reveal tonight.

tl;dr - FINAL REVEAL, 9PM CENTRAL TIME TONIGHT.
