The Sushi Box FX Secret Society

I was thinking just hang one of these from the ceiling and run an extension cord

I mean it's just the guest bedroom, it's not like I'm going to be there, so may as well. Took about 2 hours to get everything done this way, should have gone with the dangling extension cord.

In other news, I finally got around to submitting the domain transfer request for the website, so that's finally happening.

I slept in this morning so I wasn't tired yet. Threw together this thing. Working title is "Finally." Seemed fitting. I designed a daughter board that will fit either the Jensen or the Lightning Boy because even though I think I prefer the Lightning Boy they're so similar I'm having trouble committing to choosing one over the other. I'll probably do it eventually, but for now the design will accept either.

It just has Gain and Volume controls for now, as well as a ground lift, also decided to keep the internal ATTEN trimpot just for fun. It will have a balanced XLR out on the side (in that big empty space on the bottom next to the DI transformer) and input and output jacks on top, as well as a toggle switch to go between unaffected output and preamp output on the 1/4" output jack. And the whole thing fits in my typical enclosure size (Hammond 125B) and runs on 9-12VDC, so pedalboard friendly.

Very nice but clarify please : will this be a stand alone box ; an addition to peamps option in a larger box ; or an optional add on to preamps in a same size box ( even though I don't imagine how with small box preamps ).

This will be a standalone box. It has a tube preamp feeding the DI transformer.

That trimpot - could that possibly be used to adjust the input impedance to about 10 MegOhms, say for a piezo instrument that has no preamp of its own?
No, that trimpot is on the output, not the input. Input impedance is around 1MΩ, if that isn't enough I would recommend running a buffer with a higher input impedance before this.

Has anyone done a review or comparison of the SBVT with the SV-Pre? I'm looking to get back into the ampeg sound and wondering where to go and what y'all would recommend. And yes .. I know this secret society is a little biased, but I'm hoping for the best. Thanks!

I haven't seen a direct SBVT/SV-Pre comparison, but @moon-bass compared it to the Super 300:

I've owned it before as well, but I often have sellers remorse. I need on more pedal to sell then Ill get one of the SBVTs in the classifieds.
I thought I was the only one that got sellers remorse lol. Can't tell you how many times I've bought and sold the same pedal lol

I sold and rebought the grizzly overdrive all in the pandemic. It's great, but I'm selling it again because I replaced it with a pork and pickle.... Again.

IME the Super 300 is better than the SV-Pre. I really want to do a SVBT vs. Super 300 shootout of my own, but I need to compare my 2 S300s through my upcoming Space Heater first!
