The Sushi Box FX Secret Society

Speaking of upcoming Space Heaters, super quick August batch update:

Good news: My huge circuit board order has officially cleared customs in Chicago, so I should be seeing it either Monday or Tuesday. Plenty of time to get things ready before the end of the month. All of my component and tube orders have already been delivered, so I'm sitting on parts just waiting for boards and boxes.

Bad news: my enclosure order has been delayed, tracking is showing "shipment on hold" in Zhejiang, China. It was originally scheduled to be here Thursday, which would have been fine as I can easily pound out 20 finished enclosures in a weekend. I'm not sure what's causing the delay (the only answer I can get is "probably export customs inspection") or how long it will take, but if it goes past the end of next week on delivery it will affect finishing/shipping times of the August batch. "Just in case" is the big reason I give myself the extra 10 day window to finish things up each month, and I still fully expect to be able to meet that window even with a shipping delay, but it's looking like completion for August will be later than I hoped.

I guess small good news to attempt to balance things out: @Sonicblaze helped me change some settings so we can point to the current website even before the host transfer is finished, so you can poke around the new site here: www.sushiboxfx.com

Hi,

Just took a look at the new website, great job really nice !

Could it be possible to add in the "Additional Information" section the current draw for each pedal ?
I think that DC pinouts, voltage and current draw should always be there.

Cant wait to get my SBVT in the Septembers batch, still love my Slampegg

Yup, I plan to add a few more tidbits of info per pedal this week, including current draw/any missing voltage/polarity-doesnt-matter.

I got the "connection not private" warning on Safari iOS and advised not to proceed
Yeah, until the actual domain registration is finished, I can't get a valid SSL cert installed (it's still secure/SSL, just not "valid" in the certificate has the wrong name); hopefully they'll finish that this week.

I agree with everything here.

Everything right now takes 9-12V, current draw numbers will be added soon, and polarity doesn't matter. I doubt I'll ever stop being excited about that. Center positive, center negative, doesn't matter. You can actually even use AC without damaging the pedal, but I don't recommend it because I don't have enough filtering in there to get rid of the noise.

New site is a no-go on my work computer. I know you're on it, just FYI.

Is it a no-go because of the SSL stuff? Or are you getting some other error?

Side note: If anyone has site-questions/thoughts/issues, absolutely feel free to DM me if you don't want to spam the thread, happy to chat/bounce ideas/tweak-colorblind-accessibility/etc.

For anyone who likes the nerdy-details:
Old host, Wix, who also is the current Registrar, refuses to let you change NS: Wix Support

New host, Dreamhost, uses Let's Encrypt SSL certs, which with how they integrate it, requires DH to be your NS host (which Wix won't let us change while they are the domain registrar): Invalid Link Removed

So, we're in the migrate-registrar-to-DH phase now, which hopefully will be done this week, and once that happens SSL will automatically-resign with a proper cert

Yeah until we get the SSL stuff taken care of I can't get to it on my work computer as I don't even have the option of going to sites with "security issues." It will get sorted out when the domain registration is finished.

Yup, that's the one. It will get resolved.

I'm not planning to open up the next batch of ordering until certificates and everything are resolved, so if anything on the website asks for a credit card, definitely don't give it to them.

of course the child labor issues
My 7 year-old frequently asks if she can help make pedals (and anything she does the 4 year-old has to do too), and lately has been begging for me to teach her to powdercoat :p Mommy won't let her learn to solder until she's older, and has been hesitant to let her do something as messy as powdercoating, but maybe this weekend we can talk her into it.

Added a new sticker to my car window today.

Awesome, when you buy a great pedal and you pay the price for it, you dont want to blow it the first time you plug it in your power supply, this cannot be clearer !

Thanks
Yup, I think @Sonicblaze did a great job on this one, he has it organized way better than I did. I had questions asking for this information all the time, this is how it should have always been here.
