The Sushi Box FX Secret Society

Currently the digital chip is sandwiched between a pair of $0.50 op-amps, the new one is going to have it sandwiched between a pair of tubes. Nothing is really wrong with the way it works right now, but the circuit itself is more or less the example circuit from the datasheet, I want something that feels more like "me." And obviously I expect it to sound better with the tube input/output stages, if it didn't sound better there would be no reason for me to do it.

Do you think there will be tap tempo?

Fun fact: my top 3 most complicated circuits, by number of components on the board:

1) SBVT - 101 components
2) Deep Dish - 97 components
3) Echosaurus Valve - 87 components

It's looking like Echosaurus Valve might end up being another expensive one. I'm trying to get it into the same size as SBVT and Deep Dish, and that board is going to be packed tight.

EDIT: out of curiosity I wanted to look up which pedals had the least number of components, and the winners are Vampire Slayer with 32 components and Space Heater with 37 components.
I was going to ask why the SBVT was so much more money, I'm sure there's a post back somewhere but I'm laz y . .. .

Nope, the FV-1 doesn't have a straightforward way to interface with tap tempo. Most people that do tap tempo with FV-1 do so by replacing one of the existing controls, which I don't want to do. It's still theoretically possible by adding more complicated circuitry (microcontroller, digital potentiometer), but I haven't spent the time to develop a solution for it.

Yup, that's the bulk of it. Complicated design, complicated to build, lots of parts, including weird inductors for the mids control.

I lied. I just did the math. It wasn't even hard, I just keep forgetting when I have free time and remembering when I'm busy. Somehow (@Sonicblaze should remind me) these need to make their way onto the website. Based on my math, these are the positions:

How hard is it to change these? might as well have been 5 positions, it would be cool to add one around 800. I wondered why it sounded so good running a resonant filter with a mid boost around 800, now I know why

It's pretty easy to change, every pair of positions shares an inductor and has its own capacitor, so they form a simple LC filter. You could leave the inductors alone and just swap caps to adjust values. Maybe I'll take a look at my list and change some values for more useful frequencies.

I think hitting the actual 5 frequency points on the SVT-CL would be a good thing for a "sound-alike" pedal, and then you've got room to sneak in some in-betweens as well.
A frequency point in the 700-800 territory is pretty essential for me personally.

Please do if you have the time, I noticed by jacking up the 800 range via other pedal by about 8db with the sushibox mid @ 0 it sounded very much, what I know of a SVT (which is limited), to sound like. Also I don't know if yours is like this but are your cuts and boost not linear like ampegs? ie treble +15/-20, mid +10/-20, bass +12/-12
