EQ is so nice, and really works across the whole spectrum (can't really find a spot that sounds bad....so great for subtle EQ - not drastic adjustments). Ultra-Hi really adds some nice bright top-end. I think turning that on and then turning Treble down a bit actually gives it a more modern vibe that could be useful (think shelving the super wide Q treble with probably the narrower Ultra-Hi switch gives a more modern upper mid scoop - bright and distinct, but not necessarily edgy or aggressive). To be honest, I cannot tell what the Bright switch does - I'll try it more next time I play with IEMs...maybe I'll be able to notice a difference then....but I literally can't hear anything different through my amp. Ultra-Lo switch is very, very dark. It doesn't just add to the low end, it's clearly really darkening the top. I was hoping I could maybe turn it on and pull the bass down for some Pultec style EQ...but even with the Treble dimed, you can't get the top end back....so that switch is always going to remain off for me.

Do you find engaging the Ultra High and Bright has an effect on the Low switch voicing?

Now that I've let everyone else give their independent reviews I'll throw in some thoughts based on the dozen or so Slampeggs I played last week :p

Unity gain: that is a much more noticeable issue than on the PA. The PA has so much gain it can easily be used as a boost, Slampegg not so much. It can get above unity gain, but not a lot more, even fully cranked. The Bright and Ultra High switches aren't night-and-day differences, but they're audible. The Ultra Low is a lot more noticeable, but also drops your gain a bit because you're dumping high frequencies.

Overall I consider the Slampegg more of a preamp and less of a boost/drive compared to the PA and more likely the kind of thing you leave on all the time for warmth and maybe a little grit.

Well, geez...that would've been good to try. I was just trying the switches individually.....but, yeah, using the Ultra-Hi with the Ultra-Lo does get that top end back. Kinda how I said turning down the Treble with the Ultra-Hi gives a modern vibe, but with Treble up and Ultra-Hi with the Ultra-Lo on too.....takes that modern vibe even further (still couldn't hear anything with the Bright switch though).

I have no problem with people selling my pedals. As much as I would love every pedal to be exactly the right sound for everyone I know everyone is looking for a different sound and it's hard to know if something is going to fit or not without plugging it into your rig and trying it. And if it doesn't fit the sound you want, get rid of it and move on.

So if someone has been wanting a Slampegg and doesn't want to wait a few months for a new build, here you go ;) And seriously, that finish turned out so tasty.

The B-15 doesn't have the ultra high/low that I've ever seen and I've played my fair share over the years. The B-25B which is basically the head version of the B-15S (different tube arrangement than the B-15N) had it, and it looks like this pedal is more B-25B than B-15N or S. That's OK. Tonally they're similar. I played a B-25B with the matching 2x15" for a long time so I'm looking forward to getting the Slampegg. I snagged a Broughton P-15 so if I wind up getting the B-15S/B-25B equivalent as well as having a B-15N sound, all the better.

There are plenty of B-15s with Ultra Hi and Lo switches. I've owned two with them.

Definitely not the N. I owned a B-15R (the modern reissue before the Heritage line) that had those switches. I played a few S years ago but the B-25B definitely had them. Point being, the B-15S/B-25B was always slightly different from the classic B-15N to begin with due to the different tube config. I left my B-25B stock with 7027As; I never went the 6550 route.

So it's nice that what is being offered up is not just a typical '60s B-15N clone.

EDIT:
OK, I'm wrong. Looks like the later 70s models had those switches. TIL.
