The Sushi Box FX Secret Society

eh, don’t bother. As an old school Fender guy, I’m more than OK exploring the B-15’ish side of town. There really aren’t
that many players comfy with the Fender tone stack. those of us that are, are of course thrilled by a respectable pre in a stomp format...

I think most players are happier with the all knobs at noon approach.
just get cracking on a couple of Finally’s so Bruce and I can feast ;-)

(jk - understand you’re busy and the time of year...)

The Finally will be a great exclamation point to an easy-peasy analog board I’m putting together: Tuner, octave (MXR), Genzler re/Q, Finally.

Bam!!!

My little bastard has the fender tone stack and it has definitely been a challenge to figure out. At first i thought I was only going to be able to coax high gain rock and roll from it. But now i can cover a massive range with it by itself. And tossing the Smoke Siganal in front of it i can cover 95% of what I'm looking for. The only thing I find I can't get well is the deep modern sub bass stuff. Not dub reggae but like Neo jazz r and b gut rumbling stuff is a bit of a challenge. But, that's what my genzler us for.

I just shed a little tear of joy :)

Also, just to throw this out there, a single knob parametric EQ would be a phenomenal addition to any tone stack ...
I tried my Yamahe NE-1 with my UA and Finally and really didn't dig it at all but the combo really digs it when i add a Southampton Ictineo [Submarine Designer] to the mix.

I didn't care much for the NE-1 either - not sure what it was about it. It sounded good, but I was looking for something different, I guess. I couldn;t quite dial in what I was looking for. I have an actual parametric EQ on all of my boards. They are great for dialing in rooms, dialing out weird peaks, but really excel in bringing out phenomenal fretless tones. I find it so easy, when switching from fretted to fretless, to just engage the parametric and it's mwah for days. It's essential for me.

I've heard great things about the Ictineo. One of these days I'll pick one (or another clone) up.

@Sushi Box FX Echosaurus > Particle Accelerator > Southampton Ictineo / @johnk_10 Submarine Designer rehouse > LBA 2020 > SB Finally > Zoom GCE3 /Zoom Guitar Lab interface to CuBase or Harrison MixBus7.

I'M SO CLOSE. I have one Smoke Signal whose dirty channel isn't working, so that's getting pushed back to tomorrow, but the rest of them are good to go and I'm going to get shipping labels together real quick before I go to bed. I'll reach out to the one remaining customer to let him know (probably email because I don't think @DirtyDuke is on here often these days). I also have some attractive pictures I'll get up in the morning.

No worries. I'm good whenever it's ready. Thanks

Me: I'm going to take a break in December so I can rest.

Also me: I need to build as many projects as possible in December.

Doing the board for my B25-B15 conversion got me excited about amps, so I threw together this one today during lunch. It's the "Firefly", a 1/2W amp that's popular in the DIY community as a simple and (relatively) inexpensive build using a 12AU7 for the power section. Pretty much any time I build an amp it reminds me how much I don't enjoy building amps, then it takes a year or so to forget, and I build another, then forget, build another, etc. So I'm sure the excitement will pass.

Ugh usps is the worst, one sushi box is supposed to be delivered today but shows it left IL yesterday and on track for final destination. Second box says tomorrow for delivery but it arrived at a hub in IL yesterday...I'm in FL. Was hoping for a weekend with these babies but not looking good now.
