Proof that the universe is circular ... Mini Humbucker in P90 housing. P90 in Humbucker housing. These are probably 15 years old at this point. Made by an old buddy, Pete Biltoft at Vintage Vibe guitars.

For me it's been Tele's with mini-humbucker in the neck and beefed up bridge pickup... as my fav raunchy blues machines.

Just received my Slampegg Bee. It sounds great - I did have the idea that I would use it as a temporary "B15 in a box" when a certain song needed that type of tone (which it will do in spades), but if I run it with the gain set for a touch of breakup (11 o'clock), bass at 1, treble at 11 it adds just a nice thickness to the tone of all my basses, plus that tube OD growl that is hard to replicate otherwise.
I think it may be an always on type of affair, even with my more modern sounding tones.
Plus the tube glows purple. I'd keep it just for that alone!

I use mine always on with my PJB that I practice through just so it isn’t so sterile. It adds enough warmth and a little grit so it sounds more like my large rig.

I'M SO CLOSE. I have one Smoke Signal whose dirty channel isn't working, so that's getting pushed back to tomorrow, but the rest of them are good to go and I'm going to get shipping labels together real quick before I go to bed. I'll reach out to the one remaining customer to let him know (probably email because I don't think @DirtyDuke is on here often these days). I also have some attractive pictures I'll get up in the morning.

I used to play with someone that ran a tweed deluxe that hard needing a fan, then one night someone decided to borrow the fan. What survived wasn't pretty, melted the speaker.

You and me both... I've been playing with Ampeg emulators this fall. Broughton SV-Pre, Arkham Oracle and now a mini-tube Slampegg. I have not plumbed the depths of it yet, however the Slampegg shows real promise. I have a Particle Accelerator X in bound. I'm a big fan of the RCA/Fender tone stack. Less experienced with the James tone stack but I'm learning...

(P)edals are a function of (V)olume and (T)emperature, volume being every available shelf space in your closet or nooks created by placing your amp diagonally in the corner of a room, temperature being the rate at which your SO notices the rate of change of your collection. Simply put, the pedal collection grows as you make more space to store them and keep your wife from stepping on them.

I'm just gonna accept the fact that I will never, ever, ever, be GAS free. I pickup up another well known B15-ish preamp pedal in a trade. Now, keep in mind, I have always been a Fender Tone Stack kind of guy, and for the most part I haven't kept Ampeg type preamps, but that pedal, along with some recent comments on the Slampegg (yes, I'm looking at you again, this is all your fault) has got me GASsing for a Slampegg .....

I was in the same boat. My first amp ever was an all-tube Fender Bassman combo, and that kind of set the standard for me. Over the years I've tried a number of James/Bandaxall types amps/preamps - I've even owned multiple SVTs of all sorts of variety - and I still keep coming back to the FMV type tone stacks. I always like them (SVTs) at first, but after the honeymoon phase I always went back to my old standard. The Oracle was the first that I really got along with but I consider that one to be fairly transparent and doesn't have the baked in SVT tone.

But, I'm really digging the B-15 style - which I never thought I would - so I'm looking hard at the Slampegg ....

BTW the Finally is incredible! I love mine!

@moon-bass The Arkham site describes the b-15 tone stack expressed in the Oracle and points out that it is rather different from that used in the SVT. I bought my Oracle as a catch and release. so far I would say the Oracle and Slampegg are more similar than different. Which I find sort of amazing...

Also, just to throw this out there, a single knob parametric EQ would be a phenomenal addition to any tone stack ...

eh, don’t bother. As an old school Fender guy, I’m more than OK exploring the B-15’ish side of town. There really aren’t
that many players comfy with the Fender tone stack. those of us that are, are of course thrilled by a respectable pre in a stomp format...

I think most players are happier with the all knobs at noon approach.
just get cracking on a couple of Finally’s so Bruce and I can feast ;-)

Since Sushi pedals are generally not overly costly. I don't see the need for a Slampeg with UA tone stack. Just get one of each and combine to your hearts content.
