@funkinbottom I should have mentioned that I use my @Sushi Box FX Underground Accelerator for recording as well as pushing my GK MB500 into some nice tube warmth that I find as pleasing as my classic 67 Fender Bassman with more headroom and volume.

I also have one of the micro tube Particle Accelerator that is also magnificent and a Finally.

Also DHL just dropped these off. Left to right: Gondwana phase III mk ii, handwired Finally, handwired Slampegg, and handwired UA. I wasn't expecting them this early, I'll need to order parts to get them put together and tested.

@Sushi Box FX offers several choices to feed that need depending on your preferences.

Underground Accelerator is a great choice for general bass and guitar work having a familiar pleasing Fender sound that is ubiquitous, there is a wide range of gain for saturation with a very useful . This is my recommendation.

Slampeg Bee may be more to your liking if you are looking for the classic Motown or 60s thru today's warm rich Alley combo tones. Great for bass but also works for guitar.

SBVT is a take on the classic big tube bass amp used by so many bass players over the years, big sound.

Dr Wattson, JC Emerald and Sunnday Drive offer more specific familiar amp tones.

Space Heater is the gain section of the UA without the tone stack if that is your preference.
Finally is the tube gain section from the SH with a DI transformer.

Thanks. Just looked at the site. The underground and Slampeg both look interesting. I might be leaning a little more towards the UA, as I really like that old Fender tone stack.

That's the best part though, there doesn't need to be a lottery. There are no turrets on these and I won't do wood faceplates, so these will become just another option for standard builds.

All assuming these designs work, I decide the amount of time is worth it, and @Sonicblaze helps me find a good way to put them on the website, naturally.

I'm totally jumping on a hand-wired Greenhouse the day it gets posted on the website!

The Slampegg was already on my GAS list. The hand wired option bumped it up by a lot!

Sushi-San, what are these turrets you speak of? I seem to be the only one who doesn’t know what they are… embarrassing but thought I’d ask anyway….
Is there a chance I could upgrade a January order for UA or Slampegg to the HW/non-turret spec?

Unfortunately I don't think I'll have them ready in time for January, the boards haven't been verified yet and they will need updated enclosure milling files and artwork files, so January is a little too soon. I want to make sure I get them right before I let them go out, I like to think I've learned my lesson there

The turrets allow quality, in many cases larger components that can run at higher voltages than the SMD parts used on the normal boards. This results in better headroom and some sonic improvements. Hand wired will fall somewhere in between. The trade offs are expense and larger boxes needed.

The turrets don't really affect anything though, turrets are typically used in amps on some sort of fiberglass board with no copper traces so they are the only way to electrically connect the components. On a circuit board obviously I have copper traces and pads for soldering components in so the turrets are unnecessary, I used them because I thought they were neat. The new handwired designs use the exact same components as the turret versions running at the exact same voltage, they just won't look as cool but will in turn be easier to assemble.

I've been GASsing for a Slampegg, the HW option might put that over the top.

Has anyone had a chance to compare the Slampegg to the Barber Linden? I really like the Barber, but miss the separate volume and gain, and also tubez ...

So I’m patiently awaiting my January “finally” build to complete my church IEM board.

I had to modify the board because I cheaped out, although I didn’t have to, and got one of those Gokko boards with a bag off Amazon for like $30. I have my Pedaltrain nano+ for my tribute band, but after some dremel and drill work everything turned out ok. Rubber feet compliments of a really old Marshall head I’ve had tucked away in the basement, so all the mods were free, just my time involved.
