Confession, I didn't like the Fluffy Kitten at first. I couldn't figure it out and got frustrated so I put it in its box on the shelf. Well pulled it out so I could have another flavor of filth next to my duality and decided to see what I could dial up with the Smoke Signal and FK and I'm in love with it now. Glad I gave it another shot.
I've been talking about building different nano boards to plug and play. Picked up a third and got to work on it today. I'm going to be buying a 4th soon and using it for modulation pedals. This might even evolve into a switcher and 5 of these Nanos. I really want a Sushi roll.

That SS, B7KU, & VU Nano+ board has got to rattle something in the house!![]()
Does the presence knob do anything for you? Looking up the definition it should bump some mids, and I never ran it through any software but I couldn't get it to do much of anything, I see yours is maxedView attachment 4544600 View attachment 4544602

I don’t hear much of anything from the Presence control.Does the presence knob do anything for you? Looking up the definition it should bump some mids, and I never ran it through any software but I couldn't get it to do much of anything, I see yours is maxed
Emerald Drive has a nice ring to it.I found it, turns out it had fallen off the shelf in between my bass cab and my drumkit.
So as I was working on enclosures tonight I had a thought about JC Emerald and Sunnday Drive, neither of which I sell a lot of and both of which I was considering discontinuing. I want to try giving them the UA treatment. The circuits are really similar, I want to combine the aspects I like of both into a new preamp and get rid of both. Sunday Emerald? Emerald Drive? I don't know, I'll come up with something.
...ehhhh, maybe? It seems to brings the high mids out but only when the mids are cranked. And by out it's not much, if any. I could be hearing things. I'll have my wife assist me later and have her turn the knob while I play.Does the presence knob do anything for you? +1 for Emerald Drive!Emerald Drive has a nice ring to it.
Yes by definition that should be what it does, maybe it shines more on geetar...ehhhh, maybe? It seems to brings the high mids out but only when the mids are cranked. I could see that. Running high gain on the red channel of the smoke signal then into the FK made all kinds of insanity happen all over different frequencies. Unfortunately none of it really to my liking on bass. luckily I'm already working towards line spliting and running my always on tone parallel to to my dirty and fuzzes.Yes by definition that should be what it does, maybe it shines more on geetar
"Emerald Drive" - bonus points if the LED backlights an emerald gemcnc route a hole, glue in fake emerald, led behind
One of these would be cool."Emerald Drive" - bonus points if the LED backlights an emerald gemcnc route a hole, glue in fake emerald, led behind
So Fluffy Kitten v2, remove presence knob and add clean blend? Is that what I'm hearing?Yes by definition that should be what it does, maybe it shines more on geetar
(Almost) Anything is possible, that would be doable. I have been considering a drastic redesign (drastic = scrap it and start over) of Smoke Signal to avoid stepping on creative toes.@Sushi Box FX a smoke signal with a blend knob possible?
I will get that done. I can't promise it today as it's day one of January enclosure printing (always a multi-day endeavor) but I'll try to get it in the next couple days.I just wanna hear the differences between the two.
Depends on if you’re marketing it more for guitar or bass use. The way the tone stack works and sounds makes me think it’s more of a guitar-oriented pedal. A low-passed clean blend would help beef up the bottom end for bass usage, but that wouldn’t be a typically common feature on a guitar distortion pedal. Or just alter the tone stack so that it lets more low frequencies through in general. So Fluffy Kitten v2, remove presence knob and add clean blend? Is that what I'm hearing?
To add to that, (although I'm basing my suggestion off zero experience with the FK)Fluffy Kitten v2, remove presence knob and add clean blend? Is that what I'm hearing?
I believe the FK uses an FMV tonestack?Or just alter the tone stack so that it lets more low frequencies through in general
That's what I was thinking, I really had to crank the gain to get it to even bring bass to the table. That presence probably works better in a different hz rangeDepends on if you’re marketing it more for guitar or bass use. I’m not sure what frequency range the Presence control is working on, but my ears tell me it’s above typical bass guitar frequencies. If you’d bring that down into the 4-5 kHz range it might be more effective. But then I don’t know what that would sound like on guitar.
