I'm guessing AT7 as well. I did something similar with a Partical Accellerator X and went 12 AU7 as I was after Fender Showman Amp CLEAN. That tube remains in there.

In the video it seemed to me that the AT7 provided the greatest range of clean to distorted. I think I'll drop a 5751 or 12AT7 into my HWSH. I need to compare the stock HWSH and Stock Finally though...

True. It's very sensitive to the output level of the bass. The demo was made with a G&L L-2000, well known for the super high output level of its MDF pickups (even in passive mode). The gain profile is completely different with my passive bass.

First I kept the 12AU7, but I had a clean sound with my passive bass, even with the gain maxed.

I will keep the 12AT7 for now, it offers the widest range of tone with both my active and passive basses.

I would go with AT7 out of those choices. The 5751 has always been my go to.

Just to confirm with Sushi-San: I tried Smoke Signal again on a different board. Channel switching there is a small audio pop going either direction. No pop when going in or out of bypass. Not a big issue for me, I love the SS!

Right, and I was going to check the schematic to see if there was any reason I should expect a pop to see if that's something I can actively prevent on the next version. Which I will totally do tonight before I forget.

So after finally getting to use the DWX and Space Heater in live settings this past weekend, I can honestly say I’m sold on both.

Friday night, I didn’t get much time to really hear how everything sounded out front, although my sound guy (who I’ve worked with for over 12 years now) said the bass sounded great.

On Saturday, we played a very big wedding dance, which involved us having to set up the PA and lighting, and be sound checked, very early in the day. This gave me time to go out front with a bass, and have my drummer switch presets on my Helix, and also turn the SH on and off while I played.

The SH most definitely translates well through the PA system. It adds a bigness and touch of warmth to every preset we tried with it. And my Dr Wattson X preset (where the DWX is the “amp” in the Helix via an effects loop block) sounded absolutely amazing out front.

Now I’m more anxious than ever for the February builds to get done, so I can incorporate the JC Emerald X and Underground Accelerator that I have on order into their own respective presets….
