So after finally getting to use the DWX and Space Heater in live settings this past weekend, I can honestly say I’m sold on both.

Friday night, I didn’t get much time to really hear how everything sounded out front, although my sound guy (who I’ve worked with for over 12 years now) said the bass sounded great.

On Saturday, we played a very big wedding dance, which involved us having to set up the PA and lighting, and be sound checked, very early in the day. This gave me time to go out front with a bass, and have my drummer switch presets on my Helix, and also turn the SH on and off while I played.

The SH most definitely translates well through the PA system. It adds a bigness and touch of warmth to every preset we tried with it. And my Dr Wattson X preset (where the DWX is the “amp” in the Helix via an effects loop block) sounded absolutely amazing out front.

Now I’m more anxious than ever for the February builds to get done, so I can incorporate the JC Emerald X and Underground Accelerator that I have on order into their own respective presets….

The UA is my fav. I’m sure you will love it.

I'm working on it! I got all the white, raw, and full color enclosures done last night. The matte black and rainbow's end enclosures have been powdercoated but Shirley and I got into an argument about printing with white ink, so I haven't printed them yet. I have about half the boards done and ready to install for the batch, but there are a number of boards (UA, FK, and SF) that I was low on and had to order more, with the holiday at the beginning of the month the board manufacturer was behind so they'll likely be another week before I can get those boards ready.

Despite it being a shorter month I had a really solid weekend of work that put me ahead of schedule, and I'm planning to get final assembly and shipping done before the end of the month.

Also since I don't have a batch open for March my R&D budget is a little low, so I'm going to be selling a few in-stock pedals around the end of the month so I can support my prototyping habit.

In other news, my enclosure supplier changed suppliers for one of their boxes, and I dig the new look. This one is for @johnk_10 by the way, I'll PM you.

This is the first prototype I’m using...
Its called the Red Box...

This little box is a Germanium bass boost but can also be used as a light fuzz.

Its on the warmer side with the bias control increased but does not lose definition. It’s also on the sensitive side so those who like to tweak ever so fine would love it.
I’m so stoked this thing rocks.

Thanks Tom...I’m really careful about that stuff, because I have to love the product and love dealing with people involved. Like you I have been in this biz a bit and these guys I can say are top notch without a doubt.
A little birdie told me I will not be seeing you in June. If that is the case, let me know if you are coming out to New England to look at collages, we can do a burrito and coffee ...

Yeah, my daughter graduates at the same time as "Winter NAMM," so I'm going to miss it this year. Burritos and coffee sounds pretty good, though!

I picked up a Slampegg off of the classified and damn ... It was everything that I thought it would be, and more.

Warm and punchy and articulate. It may overtake my PAx for my favorite Sushibox pedal. I am seriously picky about my preamps and I am seriously a huge fan of this box. I may do some tube rolling some night this week or next.

I would most certainly say they are similar for sure...Kind of like listing to an older Marshall and a Friedman guitar head.

Just to add to this....With the bias control and volume are very sensitive and interplay with each other in good way...I'm not really into fuzz so to speak and find %99 its to much for me, but those who play clean and want to just dip into the water just a little this pedal is perfect...

Anytime I have bad news, I like to deliver good news first to soften the blow.

So the good news is February batch is coming along great. I'm short on Sashimi, Fluffy Kitten and UA boards, but everything else I have on hand and boards are assembled and ready to throw in the boxes.

The bad news is I ran into a couple issues with some handwireds. Lab Rat, Slampegg, Space Heater, and Dr. Wattson are all perfect. Absolutely great, zero issues.

HWUA and HW Finally are both having issues. Apparently they always have and I just never noticed, because the issues only occur when the gain is turned past 2:00, which isn't something I often do. With the gain past that point there's an obnoxious high-pitched squealing sound, which changes pitch as you further adjust the gain knob. I'm going to review the layouts and see if there's something I missed that would be causing interference at high gain, it's not likely an issue with the circuit itself, just something I may have done wrong routing the signals on the board. It will most likely mean another spin of prototype boards is necessary. This is why we take time and test things, I'm glad @scubaduba flagged it, otherwise I probably wouldn't have found out.

HW Black Eye is continuing to evade me. It's the one I personally want the most for my own use, so naturally I can't get it to work. Looks like another spin of boards for that one as well.

I don't have any real updates on Gondwana at this time, but you can expect Gondwana news in about 2 weeks.
