Sushi used to build pedals with 6N21B subminiature tubes. For a while, he offered "X Series" pedals, which were the same pedals with "normal" guitar 12XX7 tubes. Eventually, he got rid of the 6N21B pedals as the X series were generally better: sold better, took less power to run, possible to tube swap.Would someone give me the low down on the mini tube and x tube or just point me to where I can read about the differences? Mini and X are turning out to be very common search terms. Thanks.
Some users still prefer buying the submini tube pedals when they show up in the classifieds, and what was the "X Series" is now just what's sold: 12XX7-based pedals.
There are users who say the 6N21B sounded better, but their ears are far better than mine. I sold off all of my submini pedals, minus by modded-crazy Dr. Wattson, here's a photo (adding via mobile shortly...)
