I believe my Underground Accelerator is white/simple which you do not have on that list so I can take some better pictures if you need them. Everything else I have is discontinued...either color or pedal

What would it take to do a clean preamp based on the amplifying section of the Deep Dish compressor? When I had my DD I ended up keeping the compression so low that it seemed like a waste, but dang if it didn't juice the tone up in a really nice way even with the compression turned all the way down.
Is there anything currently available that might do close to the same thing?

Throwing a 12AU7 in Space Heater is probably the closest I have right now, but it's still different enough that I couldn't say it's similar. Designing a simple preamp that's basically Deep Dish without the compression section would be super easy though. It would be two tubes, but it could be just one knob and fit in the smaller enclosure as Black Eye. I could look into it if enough people are interested.
Speaking of which, going through my pictures has reminded me that JC Emerald orders have been slim, but not as slim as Black Eye. So as much as it pains me, I think it's time to let Black Eye go. It's an amazing pedal, but it's the last preamp I have that's based on a commercial pedal, and I think I've literally sold 4 in the past 2 years. So if anyone had their heart set on one feel free to snag one in the May batch, but I think it will be gone after that.

What finish would you recommend? Normally I'd go full colour over white, but I'm thinking that might not be necessary for the standard graphic on the Black Eye.
Usually I'm all for the full color finishes, but I've been really pleased with how the simple graphics pop on Black Eye, either raw/simple or matte black have been my favorites.
I'm glad someone asked this question, as I've been wanting something similar. I'd be interested in something clean like that.
How do you think the tone would differ between a DD preamp and a Space Heater with a different tube?
I would expect it to be "fatter" and have lower noise due to the parallel triode stages, and it would also have lower output impedance due to the parallel-triode output buffer. It would be a neat little provider of warmth.
If you use a 12AU7 in Space Heater it doesn't break up at all (unless your pickups are super hot) so I would expect it to be like that unless you substitute V1 with a 12AT7 or 12AX7 (or similar).
I really like my Black Eye X!Matte Black / Simple it is.
I sometimes wish I had gotten the full color version, since I really like the design you chose for it; but I had wanted to get something in Fractured Cherry before it was discontinued so... red it is. No regrets.
Yeah fractured cherry is a killer finish. I wish it was easier/more consistent to apply.
Thinking about it, I do think there's one thing that could've made it slightly better...
The black text/printing can be a little hard to see on the fractured cherry, due to it being low-contrast.
Some way to make it slightly more visible, like a white drop shadow or thin outline would've been perfect (if such a thing were even feasible).

Had a burst of productivity during my lunch break today and got the revised Greenhouse finished up and ordered. It's going to have two tubes, 4 knobs (Send level, Return level, Clean level, and Blend) 1 toggle switch (phase) and 1 footswitch (true bypass). To accommodate the 4 jacks (in, out, send, return) I moved it into the bigger box, so it will be the same size as Smoke Signal.
Can someone help me out with comparing the Underground Accelerator and the Dr. Wattson? I have listened to the sound clips and I can clearly hear the difference between the Slampegg and those other two, but even with headphones I can't really hear a difference between the UA and DW. They both sound good, but not different from what I can hear. Is the DW brighter with less bottom? Does the UA break up sooner as you turn up the gain? Which one has the more "round" bottom end? Which one is the most transparent? What makes the two different tonally?
Now for a really loaded question, which Sushi Box preamp is the most "flexible", as in not identical but able to cop Macca's Sgt Pepper through Abbey Road sound and a Chris Squire sound? I'm guessing the UA?
Also, the UA is described as a combination of the London Underground and Particle Accelerator, but it is not specifically said what it is. Am I correct in assuming the UA is essentially the LU with the PA tone stack mod?

Either the UA or the Smoke Signal once revised. The Abbey Road amp was a Fender Bassman with a 2 band Bax tone stack where Chris Squire always blended a clean powerful bass amp with his saturated Marshall Major. @Sushi Box FX is developing a Bassman style preamp and the JC Emerald is closest to the Marshall being JCM800 based.
The UA is a perfect melding of a versatile gain stage with a flexible tone circuit into a perfect package, from warm/clean through crunch into a hard but pleasantly saturated with plenty of tone variations. Dr Wattson or any of the dual tube pres will have a richer drive voice due to the additional tube gain stages which is why I suggested the SS to get both in one box.

I had already suspected it but what you said confirms that the UA is what I am looking for. I have a Blue Tube 903 pedal for OD but I don't care for its clean tone, so it sounds like the UA is exactly what I want.
Oh, you mean this Bassman preamp?
After saying "eventually" for approximately a million years, I finally got it wired up. I got the '57 Tweed Deluxe as well. Both sound excellent. I'll get them in enclosures eventually (uh-oh) and do more thorough testing before determining their futures.
Boy, it's a good thing I'm starting a new job in a couple weeks that comes with a decent raise.
