Thanks. Is it possible/beneficial to run the UA at 18v for more clean headroom? Also, what frequencies are the bass, mid, and treble set at?

DO NOT run it at 18V. 9 or 12v only, and it makes no difference which. The voltage is regulated internally.

No. All SushiBox pedals have internal voltage regulators, which means whatever voltage you send it (9-12v) it is always running at the same internal tube voltage of ~235v. If you're looking at new I would probably push you toward UA. The tonestack is flexible enough that you can dial in some lovely brightness. I personally run it on the darker side, but it can do either. The goal with the UA design was to make it as close as I could to a one-size-fits-all preamp, and I feel like I did a pretty decent job.

If you're looking at used stuff as well I would also recommend looking at London Underground, and possibly Sunnday Drive.

Maybe I am wrong but I got the impression that the Dr. Wattson was brighter than the UA, or is it similar tonally with the biggest difference being the gain between one and two tunes?

It's a standard Fender tonestack, so the frequencies of the controls aren't fixed. You can see a graphic representation of the sweeps of the controls here: TSC in the web

That's a tough one. You're right that it can get brighter than UA, but Dr. Wattson's bass control gets real heavy real fast. The Hiwatt tonestack is an interesting one. There definitely is a big difference in gain though, UA can get a little growl to it but Dr. Wattson can get full on overdrive.

And speaking of UA, I'm still fighting with the stupid CNC, it's frustrating as the month is now half over and I haven't been able to finish the enclosures I need for the month yet. I'm going to try it woth a new computer tomorrow to see if it cooperates better.

So tonight I took the night off from CNC work and did some soldering. Doing handwired boards one at a time feels like they take forever, but when I do a handful at a time it's not too bad. I think for the June batch I should be able to open without limiting handwired builds.

In a bigger box sure, but I definitely don't have room for a second footswitch in this box.

I recall there was the idea of a bass friendly, tube loaded Sushi version of the Klon somewhere in the pipeline. Any news on that one?

So I've been working on getting the in-stock pedals put together and tonight I realized I don't have enough 1/4" jacks for everything I was planning to do. So I'm going to cut it short for now and get the pedals posted tomorrow (wednesday) evening at 8pm central time. I'll send out an email letting everyone know as well.

The things that will definitely be up there tomorrow (exclusive TalkBass information here):

Finally and the upcoming (currently unnamed) D.I. will be the closest I ever get to a Khan.
