I'm resisting the urge to replace the head unit (for now at least), but I already ordered a JBL subwoofer and Kicker replacements for all the speakers, they'll be here saturday. Priorities.

Nice! I have a sub in my car that sit inside the spare tire. A clever design, and it works well. I've also heard that JBL stands for Junky Blown Loudspeaker

Yeah spare tire sub is what I'm going for as well. I had a big 2x8 sub box in the back of the old one, but it was a lot of cargo space lost. I haven't tried JBL subs before, but my wife's car has JBL speakers throughout and we haven't had any issues, and I had swapped all the door speakers for JBL in my old car. So I've heard things, but I've had nothing but good experience with JBL.
my Prius is this color, and it looks amazing the handful of times it’s been clean enough and sunny enough to see it.
From all I've read about the process it's so that they can have their way with you for options, financing, etc. to wear you down and get as much but of you that they can. Some fascinating stuff out there about how to work with the process against those pros.

That's actually one of my top 2-3 car choices, that and the Edge and possibly the Venza.
And I was aware of that during the initial purchase stage, but we had already been through all that when I came in a month ago when I chose the car and paid the down payment. I spent two hours that day as well, and they were sneaky. I was planning to trade in my old car, so they asked for my keys so they could "inspect" my car while I was doing a test drive, then they didn't give my keys back until they were done with me so I couldn't just walk out on my own accord.
I don't like dealerships, but the only time I bought a car from a (non-family) private seller it made it 200 miles then the radiator ruptured and the engine lost compression. So I buy exclusively from dealerships now.
Not saying I deserve to test drive a prototype, but it waaaaaaaas kinda my idea

Yeah I was thinking of doing a "tour box" type deal, have a handful of people try it, each one sends it on to the next one on the list until everyone has tried it. I’ve seen these videos recently, demonstrating a stabilization technology for power boats. Two guys on a boat rocking violently causing the boat to Bob to and fro. Then they engage the stabilizer and the boat goes still.
If they could put that technology in the Venza, then maybe. (When test driving the Venza, I made a quick lane change at about 35 mph. It took about 150 feet for it to stop wobbling.)
Having just gone through the horror of car buying in the era of supply chain nonsense, I recommend waiting if at all possible. We choose the Kia Niro hybrid.
Very happy with this choice. Hot tip: use sport mode.

Last night was a productive night. I got a handful of enclosures finished, I should be able to get the rest done this weekend. I also soldered up all the HWLR and HWSH boards for the month. I soldered up the new Greenhouse board, but I didn't get around to testing it.
I spent some more time on SS2, and I was able to get it a little better (oscillates with gain above 3:00 instead of 1:00), but it's still not where it needs to be. I have 1 1/2 more things to try, but I also just got notification that the backup-plan boards I ordered shipped today, so I'll have those in hand early next week.

When we bought our last 2 cars. 2017 Highlander and 2017 Ouback, both times I let them drone on assuming I was financing. I just ducked the questions... I turned to my wife and said, would you like to write the check? Both dealerships tried to hemm and haw out of it as clearly there is some incentive for them to get us to finance... I just said, We seem to have arrived at a price, you want to sell a car ?
On the other hand, I don't think Lisa wants to be near a dealership with me again... feels too much like playing chicken for her ;-)

I blame everyone else for not grabbing that last spot first, I ended up ordering 3 pedals for May
In all honesty, I was planning on a UA... but after a mishap while delivering on Tuesday, my vehicle had to have new tires...
Adulting sucks, sometimes
I spent 5 hours at the dealership yesterday. The Ram dealer I had ordered a truck from back in February ticked me off (salesman is a tool), so I got my $500 deposit back and went elsewhere….
Ended up with a 2022 Chevy 2500HD LTZ with a Duramax/Allison 10 speed setup. Loaded with all the options.
5 hours.
It is mind-blowing the ridiculousness of buying cars in the US. I don't think it's like that in other countries. I know it's not in Japan.
I hope the original dealership knows they lost a deal because of failed trickery. Although in this market I wonder if they care.

It's common practice to make the buyers wait for hours, hoping to wear them down to the point where they agree to extras like undercoating, tire and wheel coverage, extended warranties, and service plans - options that are high profit items for the dealership.

Wow-I lived in the US for about 20 years and never had an auto buying experience anywhere near as nightmarish as described in this thread. It seems the current shortage of supply has made dealers go rogue......in similar fashion to real estate agents where I now live......just savage, territorial primates behaving......like savage territorial primates..........same as it ever was......with tinkering around the edges.
