LOL....and in that vein.....-my favourite jam buddies (the ones I have know for 40 years and who inspired me to play 20 years ago) had never been much into the Heads.....but I finally wore 'em down and as of a year ago we have been totally digging' adding a few epic ' T. Heads covers to our list .....now back to our regularly scheduled, rolled in seaweed and packaged in neat little metal boxes programming....(apologies for derailing the auto derail and fostering another)....
News from the sushi front:
I finished soldering up the HW Slampegg boards last night, I think all the HW boards are done now for April. I also got a good handful of enclosures milled, I just have 4 more to go then I can get into printing and powdercoating. My goal is to have next weekend be my final assembly weekend and get everything shipped right at the end of the month. Having the CNC go down really threw me for a loop this month, I expect next month to go quicker.
Also if you're wondering how long it takes to assemble 9 HW Slampegg boards, the answer is about 3 1/2 hours.

You'll be fine. It will just take a bit longer for the warmup period to occur.
You guys are going to kill me for posting this without an audio demo, but I'm too excited to not post it and I don't have time for demos tonight. Greenhouse prototype is up and running, and so far it's excellent. Right now I'm running Fluffy Kitten in the loop with a little clean blended in, and it is absolutely glorious, everything you could want in a beefy distortion. I also tried Echosaurus in the loop, and I love the extra warmth it gives it.
So I'll get this prototype boxed up and probably send this out as a "tour box" to get some firsthand opinions before releasing it.

So-the Deep Dish with the compression dialled all the way down should sound pretty much the same as the Greenhouse? Do I have that right or have I oversimplified it too much?
The Deep Dish based pre is called "More" IIRC. The Greenhouse is a tube based single FX loop with clean blend and some other bells and whistles. Different tools for different purposes. Don't know how much overlap there is in the circuit design between the two, but no need to get the Greenhouse if you don't need a tube loop.
Thanks for clearing that up. I have no (current) intention of adding anything new. I have a space heater I love, a deep dish I scored used (in transit) and a UA on order (none to be used together). Stick a fork in me, I'm done

Yup, that's correct. Greenhouse is a completely different beast, there really isn't any design overlap.
Yes, because a "More" is just the Deep Dish circuit without the compressor.
Alright, quick question for my favorite market research group:
I'm looking at my "Fancy" D.I. design and am trying to make some design decisions. I plan to keep Finally around for those that just need a simple option, but for a fancier unit would you rather see a smaller, more pedalboard-friendly box, or a bigger box with more features?

I would go for something bigger and more featured just to differentiate from Finally. I bought Finally due to the format. If I were buying something other than Finally (now that I have one on order), it would likely be something along the lines of Broughton Super Stack DI, Broughton P15, Arkham Oracle etc. Effectively I am suggesting you offer a larger preamp with a DI rather than another pedal format DI. Unless of course you can come up with something cool that is also pedal format.

Cool, that's more or less what I was thinking as well. I did compact pedalboard-friendly D.I. already and I'm not replacing Finally with this one, just looking at doing something different. I was right on the edge between two tubes and three tubes, and to really do everything I want to I really need three tubes. So I think that's the direction I'll head for. The rough sketch I have while I hang out in the jury room (yup, jury duty time) is three tubes, six knobs, and three toggle switches. I still have some things to pick at and I'll likely end up doing at least a couple revisions while I figure out the sound I want, but I think I'm heading in a good direction.
I concur with all the above, sounds like an awesome direction to go. Premium tube preamps/DI's are hot property at the moment with solid demand. Especially with a lot of the more popular units having long wait times or being unobtainable, there seems room for another solid offering.
Not to complicate matters further, but why can't it be both (somewhat) pedalboard friendly and full fledged? Effectrode puts 3 tubes in a pedal and the Oracle has a plethora of knobs and switches. It's no problem if takes up a lot of space. Look at the Caveman BP1, all that real estate for just 2 knobs. Apparently people find it worth the trade off (for a good representation of size, look at Janek Gwizdala's latest pedalboard video).
And from a power perspective, even with an AC power input it would be great to have it all on one board and just plug and play. Maybe an AC passthrough for hooking up a power supply would be useful and relatively simpel? (just an assumption from a not so technical bass player!) Or if you want to go all in, add a few 9v outlets like the Noble, though of course powerful enough for a full Sushi tube board.

I absolutely loved the Noble pre/ DI that I had..
Maybe EQ options, hpf? Maybe a drive, if possible for a bit of dirt, but not necessarily over the top distortion.
