okay. thanks.Your HW Dr. Wattson is in the May batch, I'm still on the April batch.
Please let us know if it arrives on Friday 13th.So I had order #666 a few months back. Now I’m awaiting order #999. But get this, it will be my 13th Sushi pedal. This is alarming.
My ideal Fancy DI would be a Finally with Adjustable HPF and LPF and some kind of Mid control (a single semi-parametric, maybe). Something that gives tube warmth without much baked in voice, a rudimentary cab-sim, and an unaffected out for my amp. I'm a bit of a luddite when it comes to IRs and such, so that part doesn't have any appeal to me. My $0.02, whatever that's worth after inflation.
FYI, the HPF+LPF+mids is exactly the Broughton Resonant Filter Equalizer (RFE) pedal. I remember seeing 1-2 of them in the classifieds quite recently. RFE into a Finally (both top jacks) would still be pretty compact.I agree - this would make a really cool DI with some basic analogue cab sim ability.
And toobs.
The RFE is a little different than a LPF+HPF plus mids, for the record.FYI, the HPF+LPF+mids is exactly the Broughton Resonant Filter Equalizer (RFE) pedal. I remember seeing 1-2 of them in the classifieds quite recently. RFE into a Finally (both top jacks) would still be pretty compact.
You can also get a cab sim effect out of the Broughton as well.FYI, the HPF+LPF+mids is exactly the Broughton Resonant Filter Equalizer (RFE) pedal. I remember seeing 1-2 of them in the classifieds quite recently. RFE into a Finally (both top jacks) would still be pretty compact.
I've looked at the RFE and thought about doing exactly this. Having it in one box would be best, though. If you put the RFE before the DI, you have to split the signal to your amp before the RFE (I don't want it affecting my amp sound), so the unaffected out on the DI becomes superfluous.FYI, the HPF+LPF+mids is exactly the Broughton Resonant Filter Equalizer (RFE) pedal. Ah right, indeed not ideal if you want a 1/4" out not affected by the filters.I've looked at the RFE and thought about doing exactly this. Having it in one box would be best, though. Interesting. I also have a Broughton HPF and I get the same effect from the RFE's HPF side when setting its resonance to the minimum. This is in line with @gh0st42 comment above and is what the manual seems to suggest. They are not quite the same. I remember I was excited when the RFE came out, as I run three of the HP/LP filters (three boards) and I thought it would be an improvement, or at least give something extra. But the RFE did not work at all for me and I forget exactly why, but they did not sound alike and I did not like what the RFE was doing at all. Good thing about Broughton pedals though is that as soon as I had the thought in my head to sell them, I had 7 messages from people wanting to buy them. Now that was weird.

I wish I could remember exactly what it was I didn't like, but I sure didn't like it. It seems like it added too much of a bump or something, I just don't remember.

The Finally is my favorite DI in my collection warm, detailed with as much tube saturation as I could ever want or need plus it doubles as a great drive. It audibly enhances everything that I have put through it. To have a full powered tube DI in that size box that runs on 9v is brilliant. I would expect the Big & Dirty Fancy DI to be in a bigger box though for the additional circuitry, jack and switches as the Finally is fairly well stuffed as is.Mannnn the more I keep looking I’ve decided I really want a finally. For those of you own them, how do you like them? Im looking to essentially “combine” a few pedals and I think it would help. I don’t know how long I can hold off waiting for the new Sushi DI.
@Sushi Box FX are you thinking the new fancy DI is going to be in the same size enclosure?
No way, Fancy is going to be way bigger. In it's current (rough sketch) iteration it has two tubes, 6 knobs, and a couple toggle switches. It's going to be a big box, most likely the same size as Smoke Signal to accommodate the aforementioned stuff along with the D.I. transformer, XLR jack, and a few 1/4" jacks.@Sushi Box FX are you thinking the new fancy DI is going to be in the same size enclosure?

Thank you!
