I mean obviously a 3 year old isn't the only step in quality control, just the very last one My other kids can be convinced to help me with pedal stuff, but this girl can't stay away from it. I have an old blem enclosure with a dead circuit board that I always leave on the bench because she'll grab a screwdriver and come poke at it anytime I'm working. When I have boxes set out for shipping like this she'll come and put the "in the right order", she likes organizing things and lining them up.

She still needs some more fine motor skills development before I teach her to solder, but I'm confident she'll get there.

Welp, found another delay in production. I had noticed all the HWUA seemed dirtier than I expected, they broke up really early. Turns out I labeled them backwards, gain and master were swapped. All of them. So if you have a HWUA in April (there are only a couple as it wasn't technically available for order yet) it will be delayed while I fix that on all the HWUA boxes.

Had an odd thing happen last night: during rehearsal (in a warm, damp room after 2 hours of going at it), my Slampegg had something go wrong and switched off the tube. While activated, I had barely any signal at all and the tube's glow was gone.

After a brief pedalboard power pull & re-plug (maybe 20 sec), it was back, and held up thru the rest of rehearsal.

Is this something that might happen due to the nature of tubetronics? I'm not wounded if so, and can adjust as needed, but no one else has mentioned such a thing happening in my reading. The power from which I was drawing was not at all regulated, so it could have stemmed from that, or maybe from the room conditions.

Señor Sushi or fellow tubethusiasts, what're your thoughts?

Alright, quick question for my favorite market research group:

I'm looking at my "Fancy" D.I. design and am trying to make some design decisions. I plan to keep Finally around for those that just need a simple option, but for a fancier unit would you rather see a smaller, more pedalboard-friendly box, or a bigger box with more features?

I'm late to this question but here is what I'd like to see in a fancy DI....which I admit to most won't be very fancy!

1. Tubes (natch!)
2. Input pad
3. Output knob
4. Adjustable HP and LP filters (adjustable frequency, fixed roll off slope - most likely 12db per octave)
5. Transformer driven XLR out (affected signal)
6. Affected 1\4 out
7. Unaffected 1\4 inch output

If possible, and to make this super fancy I'd love to also roll in some kinda digital cab IR loader that would accept the standard 16 but, 48k WAV file IR.

I'm not saying all this is possible to cram into 1 enclosure but this would make a perfect end of pedalboard DI for me. I get my compression, drive, effects etc from other pedals on my board. It would be awesome to have my wish pedal to round that out.

It sounds like your regulator overheated, but just enough that it was able to cool down during the time it was unplugged. The voltage regulator for the heater of the mini-tubes is really going to be the main culprit any time the pedal inexplicably stops working then inexplicably starts working again. This doesn't cause any damage to the pedal, the regulator just has built-in thermal protection so it will shut down when it reaches a certain temperature. Hopefully this isn't something that happens frequently, definitely let me know if it becomes a consistent thing that you're observing.

1-5 are pretty well going to be in there. 6-7 is going to depend on the size of the enclosure. If I have room for more jacks I agree it makes sense to have an affected 1/4" and an unaffected 1/4" passthrough. I put in the switch to choose between the two on Finally because obviously there just isn't room for both on that size enclosure.

IR loader is not something I plan to add to everything, Gondwana will be my main IR loader platform and I don't expect it to be in much else.

When will the next order slots ... June? open?

I'm leaning towards not opening a June batch. As mentioned my backordered tubes that were supposed to come in late April are now expected in June, and I'm not comfortable opening orders when I don't know for sure that it won't get pushed back again. So I may build a handful of pedals and sell them as in-stock (my wife wants to go on a vacation to celebrate our anniversary but we didn't budget for one), but I don't plan on opening slots for custom builds.
