The Sushi Box FX Secret Society

Speaking of Greenhouse, I wanted to share one of my favorite things about the design. Aside from being generally one of my tidiest designs ever, I like how well I was able to group the components together for their functions. It helps that the board is huge :P

Definitively, the Green house interest me. For years I tried to acheive my sound to a single component but recently found my nirvana thrue this setup: SBVT into the fx loop of my Mesa Walkabout, a vintage Mesa V-twin on the clean channel in front of the amp for a total of six 12AX7 and three eq in serie, all this is far from a one component setup. All level is pished a little bit but not to really overdrive, it is just perfect!:)

I do agree that on its own, the JCE is probably more suited to guitar. When I first got mine, I was kinda meh about it due to the low end. However, I found 3 separate workarounds for that: using a bass cab sim in my Helix, following it with my Genzler Re/Q, or putting it through my Damnation Audio Loop Blender.

I settled on a cab sim behind it in my Helix, and it sounds freakin amazing. I used it for half the 3rd and all of the 4th set last Saturday night, and it sounded great. I’m definitely very happy with it in my current setup.

And I still stick by my opinion that it’s a different enough animal from the Dr Wattson to justify owning both. My ears don’t hear much overlap between the two, but then, I’m also not trying to get them to sound anything alike either. I’m very happy I have both.

I've got the DW and right now an Emerald on loan. I use the Wattson with the bass at zero. The Emerald with the bass and mids cranked was still a little thin for my taste (but I haven't tried overdriving it yet). So I definitely agree that the Emerald and Wattson don't overlap much, at least in EQ space.

I can only imagine the Emerald would sound amazing with guitar. I also sometimes run a split signal so I can do my own distortion blend. I bet the Emerald would be great for that. I should try that before returning it....

I bought mine for guitar. I did slope the EQ on my amp a little to compensate but it’s not extreme. Then again I’ve used my bass voiced PAX on guitar so I’m not sure what I’m doing. Like you, I tend to run the JCE just below breakup on bass to get the Marshall sound in my head.

In my recording set up I'm using a Particle Accelerator mini tube and Finally (with a Jensen) with an Ictineo and LBA 2020 into a Zoom GCE3. I'm going for an all around punchy tone that sits well in a track heard here

As I mentioned I'm a little ahead of schedule for this month, and it's easier for me to keep track of things as I clear out other things, so I'll be sending out 10 or so shipping notices this evening for the pedals that are ready to go, just to get them out of the way.

I also want to take tube inventory tonight so I can form a clear plan for June, see if I can offer any JJ/Tesla tubes or if the choices will be Psvane or nothing.

First time with the Space Heather at home practice. I had a spot reserved for it on my "Micro" board, that Also has a Keeley Bassist Compressor and a DSM / Humbold Simplier Bass Station. Played with my Lakland 55-02, both on passive and active modes.

I just can say... WOW!!! This little thing blows my mind. It really warmed and rounded the tone of the 55-02, and it has that delicious tube vibe. Found that it breaks pretty fast, and can get a bit mean, beautiful but mean.

Now I'll have to order another one for my church board...
