The Sushi Box FX Secret Society

I just got my Finally HW and it sounds really good! I was about to compare the DI out to the 1/4”, to see what the Lightning Boy Audio transformer does to the sound, and noticed that the DI output was way low. Like -20dB. Is that normal? Compared to other DI boxes. I have it’s way low. Is there an internal switch maybe?

Also, my Finally didn’t have a Lightning Boy Audio sticker on it. Is there another transformer in my unit?

Maybe these are questions for @Sushi Box FX himself, but I thought I share it if some else wonders.
Ah crap, forgot to put the stickers on for April. Lightning Boy transformers is all I build with now, so yours definitely has the Lightning Boy transformer. It is normal for the level to be lower than the 1/4" output ("transformer loss"). There is an internal trimpot that will adjust the overall output level, but that brings the level up for the 1/4" output as well.

Thank you for clearing things out!

You need a QC punch list, I would bring that up at the next production meeting and perhaps send a memo or email.

These days I mostly just play at church…someone help me bc I can’t decide what to get. I’d say today I’m stuck between the Watson and the Finally if not both (my wife is going to murder me), but it tends to change daily. What do you have and why do you like it?

Watson is not sold anymore, problem solved :)

Edit: scrap that, I saw a W and immediately thought of the Westinghouse.

If you don't know what you want the Space Heater rarely disappoints. Finally is a Space Heater with a DI output, Underground Accelerator is a Space Heater with a Fender tonestack. If you know you want the Ampeg sound absolutely go for a Slampegg Bee Pre, if you know you want the Hiwatt sound absolutely go for Dr. Wattson. Otherwise, SH/UA/Finally is my one-size-fits-most suggestion.

This would be useful to add to the FAQ or something. It seems to be a reoccurring question in this thread.

For color... SlampeggX. It is just a step away from the Arkham Oracle... which is more or less amazing in a stomp sized package.

Space Heater and Finally are great but are much more subtle. The HW Finally is my next...

I play in church as well, and also a tribute band. I’ve used IEM for church since last year, and again for the first time in a while with my tribute band.

This works amazingly well. This pic is from this past Saturdays gig.

This board is setup for IEM or going in front of an amp.
