Technical question: If 100nF is typical (and enough) for bass, how come the Fuzz Face uses 2.2uF? The Bazz Fuss uses a 4.7uF cap IIRC. Are there diminishing returns above 100nF?

Could it be because it's not just the capacitor filtering, but the resistor/capacitor network that does the filtering? There would have to be a corresponding resistor with the cap that sets the high pass freq.

Transistor coupling caps and tube coupling caps are going to be different. The typical rule of thumb people tend to use is that a solid state design should have resistors 1/10 the value and capacitors 10x the value of a corresponding component in a tube circuit.

I could use an even bigger cap to let through more sub-sonic lows, but in a typical common-cathode amplification stage I find 100nF coupling caps to be sufficient to pass all the lows I need, though I sometimes use larger caps (220nF-470nF) in cathode followers. You can find 100nF coupling caps in UA, SH, Finally, Smoke Signal, Slampegg, and Lab Rat (new version, old one had 22nF caps and was noticeably thinner). Black Eye and JC Emerald both use 22nF coupling caps, and they are bot anemic sounding by any means, but they are noticeably brighter than the aforementioned. I'd have to double check the schematic but I believe the Fluffy Kitten uses 220nF, which are scaled up from the 22nF found in the Mesa dual rec preamp for the solid state design. In the redesign, for which boards should be here Wednesday, I've bumped coupling caps up to 1uF, 10x the 100nF I would have used if it were a tube pedal.

Will the Sashimi Fuzz ever pop up again?
Probably not. I didn't dislike it, but I wasn't super excited about it.

Whats the unlabeled hole above the U for?
The technical term for it is a "whoops hole". I didn't realize I had mirrored the design when I put it in for drilling. So naturally the production units won't have that.

Any idea when the DIY Space Heater boards will be available? I've preemptively ordered a 9-pin tube socket and a Psvane Ec883. Can't wait to electrocute myself with 200 volts!
I really need to get around to reordering those boards with the manufacturing mistake on them. I'll be out and about for the next week, I'll try to get it on the list for when I get back.
