The Sushi Box FX Secret Society

Happy birthday Nathan! I hope you see this message late, meaning that you took at least one day off.
Thanks :) I'm taking the day off of from Sushi work, but alas I'm here at my day job as I'll be taking all of next week off and didn't want to use up too much of my PTO.

Fun fact, weekdays between 8AM and 5PM are typically the best time to reach me as I'm sitting here staring at a computer all day and I typically have Talkbass open during online meetings (of which there are typically way too many).

Quick November update:

All pedals have been assembled and tested, the only thing that remains is XLR testing of the Finallys (1/4" outs all tested good). Everything has passed testing so once the Finally are ready the next step is knobs, LEDs, boxing and shipping. I doubt I'll get it done today, but you should start seeing shipping notices for the November batch tomorrow.

Kinda curious how you're using the More with the UA - are they both always on, or one used for an occasional clean boost?

The More is usually on. The UA is set for mild grit/OD and is only on when I want it (and almost never when I am using the Q Tron or modulation FX). When the UA is on, the More is almost always also on. The comp and HPF are always on, but occasionally tweaked depending on the bass.

Can anyone give me some thoughts on the More vs Space Heater? Any differences in tone, function, or other characteristics? I’m looking for a clean warmer to my signal. No breakup/overdrive wanted.

The beauty of these pedals is the flexibility. One option with the space heater is to experiment with different tubes. 12AU7 gives me a feeling like a favorite blanket fresh out of the dryer, 12AT7 adds a little bit of oomph, and the 12AX7 goes full on Team Alpha Super Awesome Cool Dynamite Wolf Squadron.

As mentioned below it's going to depend a lot on tube choice. A Space Heater with a 12AU7 in it may get you exactly what you're looking for, delightful tube warmth with no breakup, any other tube in there is likely to get some hair on it. More on the other hand will run completely clean through the full sweep of the knob, absolutely no breakup.

The common consensus is more tubes more better but I'm stingy with my @Sushi Box FX and don't find doubling up to be all that useful [ymmv of course]
Agreed, I personally never have more than 7 tubes active at a time on my board.

Pure poetry. I want that framed on the wall of my workshop.

I'm looking at placing an order for the MORE and was wondering what the differences are between between Simple Artwork and Full Color on this pedal. Is Simple just the name and logo? And full color adds what's in the picture? Also, what's the dealer's choice this month? Thanks

You're correct on simple vs full color. Dealer's choice for December is going to be the same as the one from November, I couldn't find a new one that really spoke to me and I still REALLY like this one.

I had just talked myself out of buying one saying I REALLY don’t need this. And then you go and post that picture! That’s stunning! C’mon man!! :roflmao:
