Adjustable LPF/HPF are going to be among the bigger additions to Furthermore as it's something I haven't done before. The preamp design I plan to use is a non-issue, I'm just worried about the LPF/HPF, so there really isn't any point in me doing a Finally with the filters added as I plan to do Furthermore as soon as I get the filter design the way I want it.

I'll take a stab... Assuming that you are going to continue your soldering career and also repair instruments (jacks, switches, pots grounding), create/fix cables, etc...

Soldering station. I have an old Hakko 936 I bought from @Passinwind years ago when he upgraded. You need variable and regulated temperature. You need a place to rest a hot iron. You need a cleaning 'sponge' or some other tip cleaning thing... preferrably integrated. You'll want a selection of tips.

Kinda feels like an heirloom quality, lifetime tool... which of course now has me thinking about upgrading ;-)

Maybe a dedicated heat shrink gun would help it pass...

From my most recent experience, I would suggest avoiding the really cheap import stuff. Buy once, cry once, as they say.
Although, the "cheap" one linked above looks like it's an order of magnitude better than the reeeeally cheap one I just threw out.

Sure thing, this is an excellent question. I will always recommend the soldering station-type units over a cheap standalone iron that plugs directly into the wall. There are a good number of options out there, and I've tried a solid handful.

As mentioned above the Hakko FX888 is an excellent unit and hard to beat as far as quality-to-price ratio. This is one of the most common stations out there among hobbyists for good reason. It's high-quality, reliable, and replacement parts (tips wear out over time no matter how careful you are, treat them like a consumable) are readily available.

I'm partial to Weller soldering stations for the simple reason that I've been using them forever. My father (a retired electrical engineer) bought me a Weller station for Christmas years ago, and I've had good experiences with them, though they are typically a little more expensive than Hakko.

I have three stations that I use regularly, a two-channel Weller (can't remember the model number) that's my daily driver; a Weller WESD51 that's my backup which I use when my wife is helping solder and I need to run a second station; and an older Metcal PS2 that I keep in the garage so I don't have to move my Wellers around.

As for solder, I have two different types I use, both are Kester 63/37, 0.31" diameter, but with different types of flux.

• 331 Organic core I use for soldering to the main board. This one leaves a milky white residue behind that can cause trouble because it's mildly conductive, but the good news is it's water soluble, so I wash all the boards with distilled water after soldering with this stuff.
• "44" Rosin core I use for offboard wiring and on things that won't typically be seen. The flux is excellent but leaves a brownish residue behind that looks messy on boards. It can be cleaned off with isopropyl or other mildly aggressive flux removers, but I typically use it in places that I don't care about cleaning.

Finally got time to put my Nano board together, that Space Heather with the Psvane tube instead of the Tesla I have on my other SH has definitely a different character. Not better or worst, just different. To my ears it’s a bit more crunchy, breaks up at a lower gain but in a different way, nice subtle crunchiness.

I bought the Yihua some months back and it's been fantastic. Much better quality than I was expecting and comes with decent tips too. While I'm a hobbyist at best I did the fixes for 2 of my sushi's and a few other projects so far.

No the older pedals, I believe November forward is no longer an issue. Unfortunately it didn't fix my noise issues so only the Finally is on my board right now.

@Sushi Box FX while we're talking about soldering things inside our SushiBox Pedals, I've been wondering something....I'm wanting to experiment with LED's. Is there any issue with paralleling multiple (like 3) LED's? Would series be better? Or should I just put my pedal back together and shutup?
