It's definitely possible, but then what's the point of bypassing the tonestack? Just set it for 2-10-2 and you get the same result.

lol yeah, I honestly wasn’t sure what the point was and that was basically my next question. In the specific case that was being talked about, maybe not dropping the level to pre-bypass volume, but still keeping it under oscillation level.

Good thing too. This is like a subscription and not unlike an extended warranty or insurance. Companies don't do these to lose money or break even. There is a profit motive and, with that, there is an expense to customers. Sometimes it is better, in the long run, to be self-insured. Again, JIMHO!

Slampegg doesn’t work that way, at least with Mesa WD800. It needs something before connecting it to the power amp.

Okay confession time, I picked up the mini tube Slampegg Bee from the Garage Sale, one of my demo clients prefers the B15 tone so now I can @Sushi Box FX it instead of fudging the Zoom one. Oh yeah and he says he will pay me back, uh huh...

When Slampegg goes straight into a fx return input, the resulting volume is very low. It equals the output of a passive bass when gain and master are dimed. IIRC it has to do something with the Slampegg not having an output buffer.

The Slampegg because of it's design simply has a lower output, using any number of gain booster devices should get the signal boosted enough to drive an amp power section. Anything from a TC Spark mini to a Sushi Box Finally or More for example, even some EQ pedals have enough gain.

I already answered that earlier in this thread and in my post. The effects loop comes after the preamp which cannot be defeated in the 350. If you want the Slampegg as your tone, you need just a power amp to take the signal of the Slampegg pre. The tone stacks will be similar (but slightly different) between the 350 and Slampegg, so from that perspective it wouldn't make sense anyway. If you are just looking to "warm up" the 350's sound, you would need something like the Vampire Slayer (which is discontinued) in the effects loop to add some tube-y warmth before hitting the power stage.

I would start simply. Have you tried setting your PF350 in its most benign, transparent state, and using the Slampegg in front of the PF350, to shape tone? You might find that wholly satisfying, and cost effective.

Thank you, but, I have yet to receive the "backordered" PF 350. If I ever do, I will try it and, hopefully, find it satisfying. Between the delays in receiving the amp and the Sushi pedals, I am beginning to wonder if it is all worth it.

At this point, I am thinking a Mesa WD800 might be the the way to go.

@SoulReflection I was early into the Subway series... IMo the D-800+ is the sweet spot for someone with pedals. The WD-800 seemed to be the answer to a question I wasn't asking...YMMV but the WD-800 did not stick with me long. I eventually settled on the Subway DI+ for that niche. I can attest that a Space Heater or More sound great in the EFX Loop. This is what I use when I want clear, warm, transparent. More or less my replcement for an Avalon U5.

I'll use SlampeggX into Underground Accellerator into More for a more rock&roll setting.

As far as running a Slampeg X into a power amp directly. waste of time... Needs an additional gain stage.

There is no such thing as transparent with the Ampeg heads lol
