I don’t think anyone would call the Elementary a clean preamp. With my basses, it stays clean up until noon on the gain control. These is a decent amount of tube saturation as you get past 1:00.

I think I remember Nathan saying he thought the Elementary had about 90% of the gain of Dr. Watson.

Yup, Elementary is lower gain than Dr. Wattson, but still not low gain. It has noticeably more gain than UA. Hitting 90% of the gain of Dr. Wattson sounds about right.

Quick note:

I'm going to try to finish up all the pending custom orders tonight and get them shipped out, the only thing missing is printing on the powdercoated enclosures; the printer has been fighting me with white ink lately, so I'm hoping I can get it sorted tonight.

Also I'm going to temporarily suspend custom ordering until after NAMM. I've got a lot going on already, I don't want to have to worry about getting more orders built and shipped before I go, and I don't want to have to make people wait until after I get back. I will continue to ship in-stock pedals and will be adding a few more in-stock pedals in the next few days. Custom ordering will probably come back shortly after NAMM.

FWIW, in my experience the extra gain in the Dr. Wattson makes it difficult to dial in a low gain, always on kind of sound without increasing output levels noticeably when the pedal is active. If what you are looking for is low to mid gain, Elementary is the way to go. Even better is the two channel Detective! If the world became a dark and cruel place and I could only have one Sushi Box, it would be the Detective. If I could cheat I would keep the UA, also.

Sounds like the Detective is just right up my alley! I might just have to order one this week even though I just bought a Space Heater from the classified section yesterday! Anybody want to trade for a Darkglass Vintage Deluxe?

The chances of 6SL7 in Furthermore are slim as it will have at least 2 (possibly 3) tubes and I still want it to fit on a pedalboard. 6SL7 sound great but they're HUGE (compared to 12A*7).

I know right. I love my Finally. It is my DI to the board, but it also gives me a little extra tube goodness going out to the amp. If that changes into a two tube version, well, I can see why folks might be excited.

A lot of Furthermore is still up in the air, it's a combination of literally doodles in a notebook and ideas floating in my head, but the intention is to make the filters available on both the 1/4" and XLR.

My Schecter Stiletto 5 FF has a 36" scale length and a hipshot drop tuner to drop down to A on the fly. The fundamental on that is 27.5Hz, which is well below most cab's rating (not to mention most PA's) and, if I add an octaver, that just compounds the issue. I'm a huge fan of the HPF on both XLR and 1/4"!

I know space is sometimes an issue.... possibility of an output to just a tuner? (in addition to what you already have planned)

Although If I'm going direct I suppose I could use the 1/4" out that would normally go to amp. but a mute/tuner out thing is a cool option on some pedals

Edit: for those wondering, the tuner out on the back of some pedals is so that you can tune, but also keep your tuner out of the signal path in order to reduce tone loss. (I'm told... I haven't tried it, but in theory it makes sense)
