I was never in the market for VX, but Furthermore might part me with (more of) my $$$, since it'd not only provide a DI, but also serve the fxn of 2 other pedals apart from the pre itself: active eq for mid boost & HPF......in my world that's a near complete solution only asking for comp +/- tuner.

The EQ I'm using in Furthermore is an odd one, it's actually an inductor-based passive EQ capable of boosting mids, using custom-wound inductors (courtesy of Lightning Boy, naturally). The result is different; Venus X's EQ gives it a more modern, fast, snappy feel, whereas the Furthermore EQ feels more vintage and hi-fi.
I really like both and feel like there isn't that much overlap. Furthermore will not make Venus X obsolete, and personally as a player I can find separate uses for both. I would say that between the two Venus X has more tonal range as far as the number of sounds you can get out of it, especially with the two channels and the cabsim, but the lovely EQ and the HPF/LPF will make Furthermore a different and very useful beast.
Loving this idea, one suggestion for Sensei, have the footswitch as a mute that can mute the line out or the line out and DI. A rechargeable battery option would be killing it as a one box option for me.
I'm not planning to put a footswitch in this one, I just don't think I can make it fit and since it's single-channel I don't feel like it's important. Unfortunately there's also no way in hell a large rechargeable battery is going to fit in there. It would have to be twice as big as the one I put inside my bass to last long enough to be useful, and it's just not feasible.
Plan on adding an xlr ground lift and perhaps a pre/post switch as well ?

This gives me a little inspiration... Since a mute switch is super simple, perhaps you could make a separate pedal with a funny name letting everyone know its "mute" and then doubling it as a tube storage. That way if a tube goes bad on a gig, you can swap one from the "mute" which doubles as tube storage. Just an idea.....
I mean right now it doesn't even have an XLR, so yeah lots of associated stuff will get added when that goes in. This was just to play with the base tone of the preamp.

I have to say again that my favorite clean recording option is the MORE fed by a Southampton Ictineo and FurtherMORE adds that tasty sounding EQ and DI.
i’m not sure this will serve us upright folks as much as any had hoped for.

As mentioned, it's not done yet. This is not the finished product, just an initial step for me to play with the preamp/EQ and make sure I like the direction before I add the more complicated bits. When I'm working with a complicated unit, like I did with Venus X, I take a crawl-walk-run approach. Make sure each step works the way it was intended before moving on to the next.
I'm already trying to imagine what 2 More's into a Furthermore will sound like...I'll be dreaming about it later 
The thing about DB players is that we're picky. I made a super simple preamp with a James a while back. I thought it was pretty decent but the pre itself was too sterile. I made one for a friend, he loved everything about it. Loaned another to a different friend to test. He liked the squeaky clean pre, but thought the James Tonestack was too "modern".
While I like playing the DB through my Underground Accelerator, I absolutely love playing it through the Particle Accelerator.

Mmkay, after being out of commission for two months or so, my UV printer is finally back in action, and I just spent some time dialing it in, and it is printing CRISP. I'm still planning to hold off on custom orders until the first batch of Venus X are ready to go, but I should be good to go after that.

Having just sold my Hotbox a few months ago, I'll definitely DIY that one when available! Hope you sell the enclosure with the flipflop finish too.
Looks like boards will be delivered today, so probably have them listed and available tonight.
I will offer pre-milled enclosures for these like I do with the other projects I have available, but unfortunately I'm not set up to offer finished enclosures for the DIY projects.
