Did a recording session yesterday; took a JDI for good measure, but the engineer was floored by the UA>Finally combo with a little compression from a Cali76 CB. Played a 5 string Ernie Ball Stingray Special and the tone was perfect

Ever since I got my sushi box shirts and unintentionally ended up getting sushi the first time wearing one I've now made it a thing that any time we go out for sushi I wear one.I went on a date with the wife over the weekend and she wanted to try out a local sushi restaurant she'd seen.
I had the steak teriyaki.
Four words: ** Nathan Must Be Cloned **
I'm looking forward to the Venus X. I do have a question for the 'original'Nathan - how did you come up with the name Venus X? When I see Venus X, it looks like "Venus sex", à la SpaceX.
Just adding to the allure!

Sushi Box FX May you sell 'em in bunches. I suggest you post a well-written, comprehensive explanatory VX blurb with all the tech deets on your site and a sound sample for people to refer to. There'll be many asking particular questions who don't wanna sift through this thread.......myself included......I find myself now wanting a reminder of where the freq centers are on the eq, but not ready to spend another 15 minutes searching for the post(s)......I suspect there's gonna be a lotta thatA single reference point will save your precious time in the long run. Cheers.
(Looked it up for myself and thought I'd share the infoIt's using a modern active 4-band EQ tuned for Mr. @TonyP-'s tastes. It's a peaking EQ on all bands with frequency centers at 60Hz, 250Hz, 1kHz, and 7kHz respectively to Bass/Lo-Mids/Hi-Mids/Treble.
I still haven't found time to get the printer completely dialed in and back to production-ready, and between the upcoming Venus X release and a road trip in June I'll probably hold off on custom ordering until July or so. I want to get it back up and running because I enjoy doing custom builds, but I want to be able to focus on it without having to worry about a dozen other things at the same time.

That does sound like it could be a potential tube failure. Let me know how it goes when you have a chance to open it up and try out some other tubes.
Anyone tried a 12at7 or 12au7 in the Space Heater?
I very much agree with Huey on this.I have. And I ended up circling back to 12ax7, even though I don't use the SH for high gain. I found the ax7 gave me the harmonic content I was looking for without the compression and low mid bump, whereas both au7 and at7 had loss of dynamics and clarity by the time I got my harmonic needs from them. As well, the latter two needed downstream eq massaging. More so for the au7.
Hey man, I saw your text the other day and I completely forgot to respond. Sounds like I should probably take a look at it and see what I can figure out. I already worked on this one once, didn't I?So I tried a few other tubes in it with no luck sadly; same crackling and lack of volume. Curious if anyone else has had non-tube related crackling sounds and volume issues with More.
Hard to appreciate what you have until it's gone, and I'm definitely missing it now.
I have not seen many pictures of you, but for the first time I see the eyes of a little boy on Christmas morning.Ven001 & Ven002 the first two production units of Venus.

Lol that might be true.I have not seen many pictures of you, but for the first time I see the eyes of a little boy on Christmas morning.
Hm, your "just academically" questions about favored low-mid and high-mid frequencies from some weeks ago seem to have led to practical results...![]()
