The Sushi Box FX Secret Society

Anyone tried a 12at7 or 12au7 in the Space Heater?
Yes.
In both my OG SH, and my LEHW SH.

I was looking for more "clean gain" with less compression.
I put an EHX 12AT7 into them.

Bothe units don't have the trimpot of the later versions, so they were always very loud.

Combined with using high output basses, things would get "too much, too soon"

The change brought the output and response more in line with what I wanted out of them.

Thanks. Good info. I have a 12at7 I can roll in if the 12ax7 is too much.

About that trim pot, I just acquired a SH and it is HW and has the wood etched top. Wonder if it has a trim pot.

Mine is #17 of that batch. (The Limited Edition Hand Wired)
It does not have a trimpot.

Thanks. The at will more than likely get rolled in. Going to use this to just warm up the overall sound. Not looking to drive anything.

Laying out my totally rehauled board now and I’m thinking of the following chain:

Tuner > Zoom B24 > OE DCX > SH > OE 64

I’m open to better suggestions though.

Got the first few units put together to send out to @TonyP- and friends, and working on figuring out how to scale up for full production. I was initially trying not to do preordering, but it's looking like it may be the way to go. I may need to reevaluate the price as it took more hands-on time to assemble these units than I originally planned, but at least for now I plan to proceed with the price of $500. More details on the preorder to come very very soon.

It would be great if you had a trade-in plan. I own a finally, UA and Slampegg all purchased in the last 90 days. It’s a significant investment and buying the new one would be redundant.

The general trade in plan around here is to post it on the TB classifieds and have it sold in about 24 hours… then buy your next one.
At least that’s what I’ve heard…

I run a 12AT7 in my space heater. Mine is OG without the trim pot. I think the reduced gain really opens up the tube warmth of the pedal- and allows me to run it at a level that works really well.

I also run it into the old school Westinghouse and together they sound amazing. I wish the guy who made that Westinghouse thing didn't get all sideways with Sushi-San. I'd have loved to see further development there.

I know all about TB classifieds.
My point is it would certainly ease his inventory crunch while he launches his new pedal and allow him to resell and make some money at the same time.

Resell what? The thing you don't want?

He doesn't and shouldn't lease pedals like they're a car.

That's really big problem today- folks think that someone else will want the old model of something even though they themselves don't want it anymore.

Sushi-San should not take a risk on something you own.

Try empathy. Put yourself in Sushi San shoes, why would you do that?

I don't blame you, because I made myself the same kind of self-centered suggestion on another thread. Mine was: "why don't you offer a 'try 3, buy 1' option?", where one could order 3, choose 1, and send back the 2 others. He didn't care answering. Other Sushi fans explained to me why my suggestion was stupid. Then I tried empathy and I understood. :)

Nonsensical post ahead, skip if uninterested,

Aside from an OG and HW SH, I also own a DW.

I ended up pulling the AT7 I had in the OGSH, and putting it in the DW (first spot)
Really opened up the pedal for me.

However, I need to buy another AT7 for my OGSH.

Or maybe an AU7......

Do you know of one music equipment manufacture that does that?
