The Sushi Box FX Secret Society

Alright, finally got around to putting together the first teaser for the Venus X with @TonyP-. This is the clean channel of the Venus X with the EQ set flat (all knobs at 12 o'clock) and the cabsim on going straight out through the XLR into the interface. No post EQ or effects were added.

I have another video with the dirty channel going through the 1/4" output into an amp and cab, I'll get that put together in the next few minutes.

What tone stack will it be using?

It's using a modern active 4-band EQ tuned for Mr. @TonyP-'s tastes. It's a peaking EQ on all bands with frequency centers at 60Hz, 250Hz, 1kHz, and 7kHz respectively to Bass/Lo-Mids/Hi-Mids/Treble.

That's cool, the 60HZ will be friendlier to the B string on a 5 string. The 7K is too high IMO, you won't get a lot of benefit unless you are using an enclosure with a tweeter, I think half that frequency 3500Hz would be more beneficial and effective.
I feel like we got a reasonable Q factor on the sweep so it gets us a good range of friendly treble frequencies without getting too thin or harsh. 7k seems a little high on paper, but I promise it works well in this application.

Good stuff. That pedal sounds really good. The clean ish tone in the first video sounds good but the tone with some dirt in the second video sounds massive. Love it. Of course you got a monster player there making it sound way better than I could.

I got an idea, why don’t you quit making new pedals. I’d like to save some money.

What are you gonna do if this thing takes off and you have thousands of orders start pouring in?

The treble on my bass is centred at 18khz and is still very effective. It’s all in how wide the Q is.

I have no idea. If it's literally thousands of orders then it's going to be time to have the "maybe I should quit my day job" talk.

For starters I'll be building Venus X in batches of 30 as that's the best quantity discounts I can get on parts without hitting the threshold where US customs starts charging import duties, but based on demand that number may have to go up.

You should send a Venus X to Gregor at Bass the World and tell him to let Tony come on and demo it.
Just for the record, I have no problem doing that…Preferably in October.
