Not to promote another company's product here....more to justify your thoughts on this theoretical product....your idea reminds me a lot of the Genzler RE/Q but your would have tubes added (presumably to add the tube-tone element?). I wouldn't call the Re/Q a preamp - it's most a tone enhancer and correction unit (that's how I use it) - but it's essentially a 5 band peaking EQ with HP and LP filters (with adjustable roll off frequency). I find mine really useful. Interesting that the Re/Q does have a frequency center around 630Hz that has had some discussion here. I don't find this frequency useful with a mid present P bass, but with a Jazz or PJ I find that 630 adds both a little bottom end AND some mid range poke without being nasal all at the same time. It's an interesting frequency for sure.

Played through my Ashdown today and it sounded really good as well.
Tested out the Elementary for the first time. Wow! This thing has a monster tone. Just on the edge of breakup it sounds absolutely killer. Better than the UA? I don’t know, they are both awesome and different. I may have to hunt up a Slampegg and make sure I’m not missing something there.

I play PJ and find exactly the same as you. Boosting around 600hz is really good I find.

Well me and @TonyP- buckled down and got the finishing touches put on Venus X this morning. We got a couple teaser videos as well, I'll get those up soon. I'm going to order a small batch of the revised boards with the changes incorporated just to make sure I didn't screw anything up, then once those have been verified and Tony has his first unit in hand, I'll move Venus X into full production and make it available for ordering.

Ok, I had a thought (dangerous I know). This may have been addressed already but it’s a long thread. The Finally has one tube and pedals like UA, Elementary, and Slampegg have one tube. Their enclosures are similar sizes, and I would say two of them would be similar in size together to say a Dreamcatcher or Detective.
Would it be possible to combine in one pedal and have say the UA DI or Elem DI? Would there be any demand for that? I think a lot of users are running one into another.

Having your preamp and DI as separate boxes adds to the flexibility of setups and imho more desirable.
Good reason to collect all of the @Sushi Box FX preamps.

Alright, finally got around to putting together the first teaser for the Venus X with @TonyP-. This is the clean channel of the Venus X with the EQ set flat (all knobs at 12 o'clock) and the cabsim on going straight out through the XLR into the interface. No post EQ or effects were added.

I have another video with the dirty channel going through the 1/4" output into an amp and cab, I'll get that put together in the next few minutes.
